Description
# 🪜 EasyStep
EasyStep is a lightweight Fabric mod that increases the player’s step
height, allowing you to smoothly walk up full blocks without jumping.
No items.
No UI.
No forced mechanics.
Just smoother traversal when you want it.
# ✨ What It Does
In vanilla Minecraft, players must jump to climb full blocks. EasyStep
increases the player’s step height to 1.5 blocks, allowing you to:
- Walk directly up full blocks
- Move through uneven terrain smoothly
- Sprint across natural terrain without constant jumping
- Navigate builds and structures more comfortably
- Reduce repetitive jumping during exploration
Movement still feels natural and vanilla-friendly — it simply removes the
need to manually jump up every block.
# ⌨️ Toggle System
EasyStep is fully toggleable in-game.
Default Key: V
Press V to switch EasyStep:
ON – Increased step height (1.5 blocks)
OFF – Vanilla step height restored
A chat message confirms the current state each time you toggle.
You can change the keybind in:
Options → Controls → Misc → EasyStep Toggle
The toggle works instantly and updates live without reloading the world.
# 🌐 Compatibility
EasyStep is:
- Multiplayer-safe
- Server-synced
- Client-predictable
- Lightweight
- Vanilla-friendly
Each player controls their own toggle state independently.
The toggle state is synchronized between client and server to prevent
desync issues.
# 🎯 Inspiration
EasyStep was inspired by older StepUp-style mods that improved ground
traversal but were no longer maintained.
The goal was not to copy code or expand the concept into something
overcomplicated— just to recreate the same clean, simple movement
enhancement in a modern, lightweight, and properly synchronized way.
This project exists to preserve that quality-of-life improvement for
current Minecraft versions while keeping it minimal and polished.
# 🛠 Technical Overview
- Built for Fabric
- Uses modern CustomPayload networking
- Fully synchronized C2S and S2C state updates
- Injects into LivingEntity#getStepHeight() via Mixins
- Server-authoritative toggle state
- Per-player state tracking
The mod is intentionally minimal and avoids unnecessary overhead.
# 📦 Installation
1. Install Fabric Loader for your Minecraft version.
2. Install Fabric API.
3. Place the EasyStep .jar file into your mods folder.
4. Launch the game.
# 💡 For Who?
- Survival players tired of constant jumping
- Builders navigating uneven terrain
- Explorers traveling long distances
- Servers wanting small movement quality-of-life improvements
- Anyone who prefers smoother ground traversal
# 🧼 Minimal.
EasyStep does one thing — and does it well.
No clutter.
No gimmicks.
Just better stepping.
