Efficient Shears
A small quality-of-life mod that removes the randomness from shearing. Vanilla sheep drop a random 1-3 wool per shear. Efficient Shears guarantees a flat 3 wool every time, no more, no less.
What it changes
- Shearing a sheep with shears always yields 3 wool.
- Wool color, shear sound, durability cost, and regrowth behavior are all untouched — this mod only affects the drop count.
What it doesn't change
- Killing sheep (still drops wool the vanilla way if unsheared, mutton as normal).
- Any other shearable mob or block (mooshrooms, snow golems, pumpkins, etc.), this only touches sheep.
Compatibility
- Server-side only, no client installation required for multiplayer.
- Works in Singleplayer too
- Should be broadly compatible with other mods/datapacks that touch the sheep shearing loot table, since Efficient Shears normalizes the final drop count after loot generation rather than overwriting the loot table outright.
