Chicken Lottery

Every chicken is a scratch card. Chickens don't spawn in the world any more — the only way to get one is an egg, and every egg hatches into a grown chicken holding a random item from the entire game: any block, ore, weapon, potion or food. It lays that item once a minute, forever, and both the item and a countdown to its next lay float above its head.

You start with an Origin Chicken Egg. It hatches the one chicken that lays eggs, and every egg it lays tells you what it will hatch before you throw it. Ores make up 20% of every roll, and 10% of bred chicks come out as egg chickens, so nothing ever dries up.

Feed a chicken Lottery Feed (gold nugget + wheat seeds + sugar) to speed it up. There are three levels, and each one also puts another enchantment on its item. Past 3/3 it's genetics: breed two chickens of the same level and the chick comes out one level faster, all the way down to a lay every five seconds. Right-click a maxed chicken with an enchanting table and every enchantment on its item jumps to its highest level.

If you don't like what a chicken lays, right-click it with a gold nugget to re-roll it, or use a Chicken Imprinter (a chest ringed with gold nuggets) while holding the item you want in your off hand to set it exactly. Right-click a chicken with an empty hand and it becomes an egg that hatches the same chicken back, item and levels intact, and crouch + right-click stops it laying until you want it going again.
