Description

Elemental Mob

Elemental Mob gives Minecraft creatures elemental identities, combat traits, themed status effects, resistance potions, and elemental enchantments.

The goal is simple: make mobs feel more alive and unpredictable without turning Minecraft into a complicated RPG system.

Highlights

  • Mobs can randomly spawn with their own element and combat trait.
  • Discover nine different elements: Fire, Aqua, Geo, Wind, Lightning, Nature, Ice, Poison, and Sculk.
  • Learn each element’s strengths and weaknesses to prepare for tougher fights.
  • Deal with unique effects like HP Burn, Frostbite, Shock, Steady, Whirl, Whirlpool, Overgrowth, Venom Gaze, and Open Wound.
  • Brew elemental resistance potions to help you survive against stronger elemental mobs.
  • Add elemental enchantments to your weapons and armor.
  • Find rare Aegis chestplate enchantments that let you use the full power of an element.
  • Use Jade to quickly check a mob’s element and combat trait.
  • Enable EntityColorOverlay to give elemental mobs matching color tints.
  • Each element also has its own particles, making combat effects easier to see and understand.

Core Gameplay

Mobs can receive:

System Description
Element Gives the mob an elemental identity, matchup behavior, status effects, and special abilities
Trait Gives the mob a combat personality, such as stronger hits, damage reflection, survival tricks, or elemental mastery

By default, mobs can spawn with both an element and a trait. This can be adjusted in the config.

Elements

nine different elements *Enable EntityColorOverlay

Element Strong Against Weak Against Gameplay Identity
Fire Ice, Nature, Wind Aqua, Geo, Lightning Burning pressure, HP Burn, Heat Impact
Aqua Fire, Geo, Wind Nature, Lightning, Ice Whirlpool, healing, water advantage
Geo Fire, Lightning, Wind Aqua, Nature, Ice Steady defense, armor-based strikes
Wind Nature, Lightning, Ice Fire, Aqua, Geo Speed, Whirl stacks, Unleash burst
Lightning Fire, Aqua, Ice Geo, Wind, Nature Shock stacks and Overload finishers
Nature Aqua, Geo, Lightning Fire, Wind, Ice Overgrowth and max-health damage
Ice Aqua, Geo, Nature Fire, Wind, Lightning Slows, Frostbite, anti-healing pressure
Poison Sculk Sculk Venom Gaze, poison scaling, Toxin burst
Sculk Poison Poison Weakness, Sonic Boom, sensor power
Element Abilities
Element Combat Effect Environment Effect
Fire Sets targets on fire, applies HP Burn, deals bonus damage to burning enemies, and triggers Heat Impact every 3 quick hits Heals while burning or in lava. Fire creatures become weaker if forced into water for too long
Aqua Gains regeneration when hit, applies Whirlpool every 3 attacks, deals extra damage to Whirlpool targets, and heals from that damage Heals in water, breathes underwater, and moves more naturally through water
Geo Builds Steady stacks when hit, reducing incoming damage. At full Steady, it gains regeneration and resists knockback Becomes tougher and regenerates more deeply underground. Ore drops can be improved
Wind Builds Whirl stacks while attacking. At full stacks, Whirl becomes Unleash, greatly increasing speed and damage for a short time Moves faster, especially in open spaces
Lightning Applies Shock, making Lightning damage more dangerous. After enough hits, Overload delivers a heavy burst Thrives during rain and storms, gaining speed, healing, and bonus attack damage
Nature Gains Overgrowth when hit and adds damage based on its own maximum health Nearby plants reduce incoming damage, and plant harvesting can produce extra drops
Ice Applies Frostbite and Slowness. Frostbite ramps up over time, while slowed enemies take extra damage Heals in snowy conditions and handles powder snow safely
Poison Uses Venom Gaze, a stacking poison-style debuff. At high stacks, special traits can turn it into a burst Poison-like damage heals Poison mobs, and low ceilings help them recover
Sculk Applies Weakness and releases Sonic Boom after repeated hits. Some traits can change how Sonic Boom triggers Active sculk sensors empower Sculk creatures with stacking Strength
Trait System

Traits are combat personalities. A mob might strike twice, wait for a stronger hit, become harder to kill, reflect damage, or become a rare elemental lord.

Rarity Examples What They Do
Common Absorb traits, Shred traits Absorb matching elemental damage as healing, or make one element pierce resistance more effectively
Rare Double Impact, Patient Strikes, Hunter, Momentum, Thick Skin, Parry, Sharp Skin Simple but meaningful combat modifiers: stronger hits, healing on kills, reduced damage, capped damage, or reflected damage
Epic Duelist, All In, Master Parry, Berserker, Razor Skin, Butcher, Toxin, Reverse Polarity High-impact traits that can reshape a fight, especially on strong mobs or bosses
Legendary Last Stand, Coward, The Odds, Perfect Parry, Serrated Skin Rare survival or damage traits that can create dramatic turns during combat
Mystic Lord of Fire, Lord of Aqua, Lord of Geo, Lord of Wind, Lord of Lightning, Lord of Nature, Lord of Ice, Lord of Poison, Lord of Sculk Extremely rare elemental mastery traits. They make matching elemental damage much more threatening, even through resistance
Status Effects
Effect Gameplay Role
HP Burn Increases fire damage taken and reduces healing received
Frostbite Deals ramping cold damage over time
Shock Stacks up and makes Lightning damage more dangerous
Steady Reduces incoming damage and can prevent knockback at high stacks
Whirl Wind attack stacks that build toward Unleash
Unleash A short Wind burst window with much higher speed and damage
Whirlpool Aqua mark that enables bonus damage and healing
Overgrowth Nature recovery and sustain pressure
Venom Gaze Stacking poison mark that can become dangerous with the Toxin trait
Antibody Temporarily blocks poison pressure after a Toxin burst
Open Wound Makes the target take more damage for a short time
Overload Lightning finisher after enough repeated hits
Enchantments
Enchantment Type Equipment Gameplay Role
Elemental Imbue Weapons Turns weapon damage into a chosen element without adding mob-only status abilities
Elemental Boost Weapons Increases damage for a matching element
Elemental Shred Weapons Lets elemental damage punch through resistance or punish targets without resistance
Elemental Protection Armor Reduces damage from matching elements. Fire uses vanilla Fire Protection instead
Aegis of Element Chestplates Grants full elemental power from the chosen element. Very rare and limited to chestplates
Curse of the Element Aegis Chestplates A cursed version of Aegis with stronger durability cost and binding behavior

Most weapon and protection enchantments can appear through normal enchantment-style gameplay. Aegis enchantments are intended to be rare treasure-style finds.

Resistance Potions

Elemental resistance potions help players prepare for specific threats. They are brewed from Awkward Potion using themed vanilla ingredients.

Potion Ingredient
Geo Resistance Amethyst Shard
Aqua Resistance Prismarine Crystals
Wind Resistance Feather
Nature Resistance Honeycomb
Lightning Resistance Raw Copper
Ice Resistance Snowball
Poison Resistance Poisonous Potato
Sculk Resistance Echo Shard

Only one elemental resistance can be active at a time. Drinking a new elemental resistance replaces the previous one. Vanilla Fire Resistance is part of the same preparation loop.

How Rare Is Everything?
Feature Availability
Elements on mobs Enabled by default. All nine elements have equal default spawn weight
Traits on mobs Enabled by default. Common and Rare traits appear often, Epic and Legendary traits are uncommon, and Mystic lord traits are extremely rare
Resistance potions Brewable in survival with themed vanilla ingredients
Imbue, Boost, Shred, Protection Available through normal enchantment-style gameplay
Aegis enchantments Rare treasure-style enchantments, intended as high-value finds
Element Trait Tuner Creative testing item for changing a mob's element or trait

  • EntityColorOverlay is optional. If installed, mobs can be tinted by element
  • Element particles help identify elemental mobs even without overlay support
