Description

WARNING

This mod is a Work in Progress. Only a small number of spells are implemented.

NOTE: As of 0.10.40-alpha, Aequivaleo is REQUIRED. Note that the mod has been built against Aequivaleo 0.1.57-ALPHA and will not work with older builds.

Backstory and description

This mod wants to build a magic system around the raw elements latent in the world. It will be based around two premises.

First, that every object can be decomposed into raw essences:

  • Fire
  • Water
  • Air
  • Earth
  • Light
  • Darkness
  • Life
  • Death

In this system, Dirt would contain a majority of Earth, but also some Life, to represent the potential of growth.

The second premise, is that each element has a purpose, and can be applied as magic effects:

  • Fire: Causes flames on its own, adds explosive energy to the mix.
  • Earth: Attracts and compacts.
  • Air: Volatile and windy, makes things move.
  • Water: Flows endlessly. Can absorb flames.
  • Light: Illuminates and protects.
  • Darkness: Darkens and weakens.
  • Life: Creates and heals.
  • Death: Destroys and damages.

By decomposing objects and combining the elements in a certain order inside an amulet or wand, the user of the magic will be able to wield enormous powers, but the elements don't like to be controlled, and the user's willpower may not always be strong enough...

Do you dare step over your limit?

Upcoming Features

  • More spell combinations.
  • More spell shapes.
  • Rituals (spells that require world structures or specific items to be present).

Can I use this in <X>?

Yes. Unless <X>'s license is incompatible with this mod's, which is unlikely.

  • Cocoons
Cocoons Their color indicates their primary element. The primary element depends on the location where it grew. Breaking it can drop essence orbs.
  • Health on Demand
Health on Demand While the basic health spell is self-cast, combining it with light will turn the healing into a beam. Handy for cooperative players, and to hurt zombies!
  • Flood the world
Flood the world Or try to. Because the basic water spell spawns flowing water, not source blocks. Still great for putting out fires.
  • World on Fire
World on Fire The most basic spell may also be the most dangerous. A single fire in the spell will create a ball of fire around you, which will subsequently set you on fire. Be warned.
  • Charging in the essentializer
Charging in the essentializer The right slot on the Essentializer will let you charge things with essences. If you want to remove essences from an item, you can use the left slot instead.
  • Essentializing matter
Essentializing matter Place an item in the central slot of the Essentializer to break it into elemental essences.
  • The Essentializer
The Essentializer Top-tier machine. Lets you break down any (supported) item or block into its constituent elemental essences.
  • Magic Rings
Magic Rings They contain spare essences. The will charge any other container (gemstones, wands, and other rings) over time.
  • The Staff
The Staff An upgrade for the wand, will double the capacity of any given gemstone.
  • Setting gemstones
Setting gemstones Combine a wand, staff, or ring with a gemstone, in a crafting grid, to set, change or remove the gemstone.
  • The Gem Analyzer
The Gem Analyzer This pocket kit will allow you to scan gemstones and find their properties.
  • The Wand
The Wand The wand alone will be useless unless a gemstone is set on it. Use any crafting grid to combine a wand with a gemstone. If it was already bound, you will get back the old one, charge included.
  • The Analyzer
The Analyzer The analyzer lets you scan gemstones to find out their quality. Be careful: once scanned, they won't stack with gemstones of other qualities anymore.
