Unfortunately, the mod does not insert the actual Unicode emoji characters, but relies on its own internal rendering that just acts on the text code in chat. This means that people without the mod cannot see the emojis you type; instead they'll see things like ":sob:" or ":pleading:".

The 'Emojis' mod does this way better; unfortunately that is not available for versions 1.19 and earlier.
