Description

Enchantment Amendment addresses some of my personal issues with enchantments with small, but impactful, tweaks to vanilla (and some modded) enchantments. Most changes can be configured or disabled with the config file.

Enchantment Tweaks:

Spoiler

Enchantable items now have an enchantment cap (defaults to 3, configurable). Books however can only carry one enchantment at a time. In return, there is no more mutual exclusivity between enchantments (except silk touch and fortune) and enchanted books can stack to 64.

All enchantments have 5 levels now (except for silk touch, at least for now). Most have been tweaked accordingly, and some have been reworked or changed.

Changes made to enchantments (some that are not mentioned here have received small value tweaks due to the 5 level change):

Aqua Affinity:

  • 80% * level submerged mining speed
  • Cancels the air mining penalty while in water

Bane of Arthropods:

  • 2 * level damage to to mobs under #minecraft:sensitive_to_bane_of_arthropods

Channeling:

  • Can now be used any time as long as the mob is exposed to the sky
  • The chance lightning strikes is determined by the level and the weather
    • 20% * level while in thunder
    • 8% * level while in rain
    • 3% * level when the weather is clear

Flame:

  • 30 * level igintion ticks

Protections:

  • Chestplate exclusive
  • Doubled the amount of protection given per level due to chestplate exclusivity

Frost Walker:

  • Doesn't require being on ground, allowing reactivation whilst in water
  • Does not activate when swimming or sneaking or on fire
  • 3 + level ice radius

Soul Speed:

  • No longer damages boots

Impaling:

  • Now deals 1.5 * level damage to all mobs in water or rain

Thorns:

  • Now only takes 1 extra durability instead of 2

Riptide:

  • No longer prevents throwing the trident if conditions aren't meant
  • Requires being on ground if using in the rain to prevent infinite flight
  • Requires not being crouched

Infinity:

  • 15% * level chance to not use arrows (any arrow type!)
  • Works on crossbows

Mending:

  • 0.5 * level experience repair

Multishot:

  • 1 * level extra projectiles shot

Anvil Tweaks:

Spoiler
  • Renaming items is free
  • Repair cost is always 1 item + (1 level * (anvil cost of all enchantments combined / 4))
  • No prior work penalty
  • Enchantment cost is simply its anvil cost * enchantment level
  • Enchantment levels now combine linearly (instead of needing two level 3 enchantments for level 4 for example, you could do 2 + 3 and get level 5)
  • Anvil use break chance decreased from 12% to 8%
  • Anvils can be repaired one stage by using an iron block on it

Experience Tweaks:

Spoiler
  • Now has a fixed amount of experience per level up (30 by default)
  • Experience can be bottled by interacting with glass bottles as a way to store experience for later
  • Bottles o' enchanting now always give half a level of experience, meaning one stack takes you to level 32 (by default)
  • Experience orb pickup delay is 0 instead of 2
