Description
EndBound is a story-driven progression mod that rebuilds Minecraft’s journey to The End into a darker, more deliberate campaign.
Instead of finding a stronghold, placing a few Eyes of Ender, and fighting the Dragon as usual, EndBound turns the End portal into a broken gate that must be repaired, remembered, and reopened. The mod adds new portal mechanics, custom Eyes, lore fragments, End-focused enemies and drops, death echoes, and a more meaningful final choice after the Dragon.
EndBound is for players who want vanilla Minecraft to feel more like a mysterious adventure without becoming a completely different game.
## What EndBound Adds
- A reworked End portal progression system
- Broken stronghold portal rooms with missing frame pieces
- Dormant Frames and Bound Frames used to repair the portal
- A reusable Bound book item for awakening Dormant Frames
- 12 custom Eyes required to open the gate
- Brewing Stand recipes that transform Eyes of Ender into custom Eyes
- A fragment journal with unlockable story memories
- Atmospheric thought messages triggered by exploration, death, structures, mobs, and key items
- End Ghasts that appear in The End
- End Ghast Tears used in End-related recipes
- Fallen Echoes that store your dropped items and XP after death
- Endbound advancements
- Custom title/menu styling
- A changed Endgame flow with a final post-Dragon choice
## The Twelve Eyes
The End portal requires twelve different Eyes. Each Eye is tied to a major part of the world, encouraging players to explore more of Minecraft before reaching The End.
Custom Eyes include:
- Eye of the Wither
- Eye of the Deep
- Eye of the Warden
- Eye of the Bastion
- Eye of the Apple
- Eye of the Village
- Eye of the Mansion
- Eye of the Trial
- Eye of the Fortress
- Eye of the Sea
- Eye of the Mountain
- Eye of the Ruined Gate
Each Eye is made by brewing an Eye of Ender with a specific relic-like ingredient, such as an Echo Shard, Heart of the Sea, Totem of Undying, Nether Star, Bell, Heavy Core, Goat Horn, and more.
## Repaired Portal Progression
Stronghold portal rooms are changed so the portal is incomplete. Some frame positions are broken and replaced with End Stone.
To open the gate, you must:
1. Find the broken portal room.
2. Craft Dormant Frames.
3. Place them into the missing parts of the ring.
4. Use the Bound book to awaken them into Bound Frames.
5. Brew and place twelve different custom Eyes.
6. Complete the gate and enter The End.
The result is a longer, more exploration-focused End progression path that gives late-game Minecraft more weight.
## Lore Fragments and Thoughts
EndBound adds a fragment system that unlocks short pieces of story as you play. These are not long quest logs or forced dialogue boxes. They are brief, atmospheric memories triggered by things you do and places you discover.
Fragments can unlock from:
- Entering dimensions
- Finding strongholds, villages, monuments, ancient cities, fortresses, and bastions
- Seeing or defeating major mobs
- Finding important items
- Dying and respawning
- Repairing the portal
- Entering The End
- Facing the Dragon
You can open the fragment screen to review what you have discovered.
## End Ghasts and End Ghast Tears
Ghasts are moved out of the Nether and into The End, where they become part of EndBound’s atmosphere and progression.
End Ghasts drop End Ghast Tears, a new item used in End-related crafting, including an alternate Eye of Ender recipe and End Crystal recipe.
## Fallen Echoes
When you die, EndBound can create a Fallen Echo at your death location. This echo stores your dropped inventory and XP so you can return and recover them by breaking it.
Fallen Echoes are designed to make death feel more thematic while still preserving risk and recovery.
## The Final Choice
EndBound changes what happens after the Dragon.
The Dragon is treated less like a normal boss and more like the lock on a prison. After the gate opens and the Dragon is defeated, the exit portal becomes part of the story. Choosing release completes the journey. Refusing it changes the state of the world and the player’s fate.
EndBound is built around the idea that reaching The End should feel like reaching the end of something.
## Why Play EndBound?
Download EndBound if you want:
- A more meaningful End progression
- A reason to explore more of the Overworld, Nether, Deep Dark, oceans, structures, and rare loot
- A mysterious story told through gameplay instead of cutscenes
- A harder, longer path to The End
- Vanilla-style mechanics with a stronger RPG/adventure feeling
- A Minecraft world that feels haunted by what came before
EndBound keeps the core Minecraft loop intact, but gives the road to The End a purpose, a memory, and a cost.
