Do you want to ride your minion or werewolf friend? 
this mechanics work from version 0.10.41

Minion Right-click on your minion while crouching and holding the saddle, then it will turn into a survivalist minion,
now when you press the right mouse button on it with an empty hand you can ride.
Player To ride on a friend, he/she must first be in survivalist form, he/she must hold the saddle in hand and press the right mouse button, now you click on with your empty hand and it's done.
