About
Description
Esoteric Distillation is a Fabric mod that adds 16 new brewing recipes for potions and effects not typically obtainable in vanilla survival Minecraft.
These include, but are not limited to:
- Potion of Decay (Wither)
- Potion of Luck
- Potion of Absorption
- Potion of Haste
- Potion of Blindness
- Potion of Vitality (Health Boost)
- Potion of Charm (Hero of the Village)
- Potion of Famine (Hunger)
...and many more. If a status effect exists in vanilla Minecraft, this mod adds a craftable potion for it.
Additionally, all potions come with Splash, Lingering, and Tipped Arrow variants.

Brewing Recipes
Most potion recipes require a base Awkward Potion to start, made using a Water Bottle and a Nether Wart in a brewing stand. The following table lists the ingredients used to transform an Awkward Potion into a functional Potion, as well as the enhanced and lengthened variants.
| Ingredient | Icon | Effect | Redstone | Glowstone |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Honey Bottle | ![]() |
Haste (3:00) | 8:00 | II (1:30) |
| Rotten Flesh | ![]() |
Hunger (1:30) | 4:00 | II (0:20) |
| Golden Apple | ![]() |
Health Boost (3:00) | 8:00 | II (1:30) |
| Raw Gold | ![]() |
Absorption (1:30) | 4:00 | III (0:45) |
| Beetroot Soup | ![]() |
Saturation X | N/A | XX |
| Glow Berries | ![]() |
Glowing (1:30) | 4:00 | N/A |
| Lapis Lazuli | ![]() |
Luck (5:00) | N/A | III (5:00) |
| Prismarine Crystals | ![]() |
Dolphin's Grace (3:00) | 8:00 | N/A |
| Goat Horn | ![]() |
Bad Omen (3:00) | 8:00 | III (1:30) |
| Totem of Undying | ![]() |
Hero of the Village (3:00) | 8:00 | III (1:30) |
The next six Potion recipes are somewhat unique, in that they are "corrupted" versions of other Potions. This means that they are all made by applying a Fermented Spider Eye to an existing Potion.
Bear in mind that, while lengthened Potions can be corrupted (and will retain the lengthened modifier!), enhanced Potions cannot be corrupted. Make sure to only apply Glowstone after corrupting the Potion.
| Original Potion | Corrupted | Redstone | Glowstone |
|---|---|---|---|
| Potion of Haste | Mining Fatigue (1:30) | 4:00 | III (0:20) |
| Potion of Regeneration | Wither (0:40) | 1:30 | II (0:20) |
| Potion of Saturation | Nausea (0:45) | 1:30 | N/A |
| Potion of Luminescence | Blindness (0:45) | 1:30 | N/A |
| Potion of Slow Falling | Levitation (0:25) | 1:00 | II (0:13) |
| Potion of Luck | Bad Luck (5:00) | N/A | III (5:00) |
