About Etcetera

Etcetera is a miscellaneous mod. This means that its features can range from blocks, to items, blocks, storage… et cetera. All these additions are made while keeping Minecraft's gameplay in mind and hopefully fit the game seamlessly.

Creative Tab

Features

Bismuth & Iridescence

  • Bismuth Ore – A new ore found in the Nether that yields experience like Nether Quartz when mined.
  • Bismuth Blocks, Raw Blocks & Bars – Polished decorative blocks. Bismuth blocks slowly change color over time.
  • Bismuth Ingot – Smelted from Bismuth. It can be used to apply an iridescent (color-changing) effect onto vanilla blocks, or used as a colorful Armor Trim material in the Smithing Table.
  • Iridescent Blocks – Blocks decorated with iridescent coatings. Features unique variants for Glass, Glass Panes, Terracotta, Glazed Terracotta, Concrete, Wool, and Lanterns.

Tools & Items

  • Chisel – A tool used to carve blocks into their chiseled form or scrape off iridescence.
  • Wrench – A tool (similar to a debug stick) that can rotate or modify blockstates of placed blocks.
  • Hammer – A heavy tool used for combat or cracking blocks (e.g., smashing stone into cobblestone). Features JSON-based recipes for easy mod compatibility.
  • Handbell – Obtained from villagers (Armorer, Weaponsmith, and Toolsmith). Ringing it recalls your pets and following Allays (if they are not sitting) and outlines them with the Glowing effect.
  • Item Label – Used on an anvil with another item to add custom tooltip lines (up to 4 lines). These labels can be washed off by right-clicking a Cauldron filled with water.
  • Squall Music Disc – New music disc that can be found as rare loot in Big Underwater Ruins.

Redstone & Utilities

  • Dice – A compact redstone block that outputs a random redstone signal strength.
  • Drum – A musical block similar to a noteblock. It changes its sound based on the block underneath it and exactly where the player strikes its top surface.
  • Prickly Can – A cactus-themed trashcan. Clicking the delete button in its interface instantly voids all items inside.
  • Dream Catcher – A hanging block that applies the Drowsy effect to nearby players at night (allowing them to sleep even if monsters are nearby) and granting Regeneration and Strength at dawn.
  • Redstone Wires & Components – Redstone wiring designed for underwater layouts:
    • Redstone Wires – Water-resistant redstone wire. It doesn't connect to vanilla redstone wire, allowing for compact parallel wiring circuits without interference.
    • Redstone Wire Torch – Waterloggable redstone torch.
    • Redstone Wire Repeater – Waterloggable redstone repeater.
    • Redstone Wire Comparator – Waterloggable redstone comparator.

Blocks & Decoration

  • Frame – A framework building block. It can be placed to assist with layouts and later replaced by clicking with another block without needing to be broken first.
  • Terracotta Vase – Crafted from rooted dirt. It removes the natural offset of any blocks or flowers placed on top of it, keeping decorations aligned.
  • Bouquet – Decorative flower bouquets crafted with small flowers, placeable in flowerpots or Terracotta Vases.
  • Item Stand & Glowing Item Stand – Displays items in the middle of a block. You can click it with glass to encase the item.
  • Squid Lamp – A wall/floor lamp crafted from Glow Ink Sacs. Glows significantly brighter when submerged in water.
  • Crumbling Stone – A fragile stone block that crumbles when stood on, jumped on, or hit by a projectile. Can be waxed to preserve as decoration.
  • Leveled Stone – A decorative polished stone block used to craft Crumbling Stone, available in block, stairs, and slab forms.
  • Light Bulb & Tinted Light Bulb – Interactive light sources. Right-click to adjust their light level. Tinted light bulbs randomly flicker.
  • Copper Tap – A valve block that can be toggled on/off to drip particles from the block behind it (water, lava, honey, crying obsidian, rubber). When attached to a log above a cauldron, it slowly extracts rubber into it.
  • Custom Paths – Shoveling Sand, Red Sand, Snow Blocks, or Gravel creates custom Path blocks.
  • Rubber - Obtained by tapping a tree log with a Copper Tap. Slightly less bouncy than Slime. Can be crafted into Rubber Buttons, which are waterloggable.

Mobs

  • Chapples & Golden Chapples – A chicken-like mob spawned from an Eggple (found in Plains village chests or Pillager Outposts). They wear apples on their heads and lay apples instead of eggs. If struck by lightning or hatched from a Golden Eggple (found in Bastion chests), they become a Golden Chapple, which lays Golden Apples. Can be sheared for apples.
  • Weaver – A hostile spider-like monster that spawns at night. It shoots cobweb projectiles to trap players and leaps/pounces on trapped targets. Drops silk (string) and rarely drops Silken Slacks.
  • Golden Golem – A cute flying companion crafted using a Carved Pumpkin and a Gold Block. Thrown to spawn. Follows and protects its owner, healing them and granting Absorption. Has 10 charges and can be repaired/recharged using Gold Ingots on an anvil. Can be picked back up as an item by sneak-right-clicking.
  • Rubber Chicken – A novelty decor entity that squeaks when squeezed, floats on water, and drops as an item when hit.

Apparel & Equipment

  • Tidal Helmet – A reinforced turtle helmet crafted with a Turtle Helmet and a Heart of the Sea. Grants Conduit Power (with a custom UI meter), durability, and strength.
  • Silken Slacks – Leggings dropped by the Weaver that allow the wearer to climb cobwebs like ladders.
  • Adventurer's Boots – Heavy boots that leave footprints on the ground as you walk.
  • Turtle Raft – A compact, single-passenger raft. Can be dyed like leather armor and decorated with banners. Immune to bubble columns and fits through 1-block gaps.
  • Cotton Clothes – Crafted from cotton crops (cotton seeds can be found in Plains villages or traded by farmers). Used for crafting Sweaters and Hats in all 16 colors (plus Wandering Trader robes & hoods). They are slimmer than normal armor and don't provide any armor, though they also don't lose durability.

Custom Tags

  • etcetera:villager_can_pickup – Items that can be picked up by Villagers.
  • etcetera:sweaters – Contains all colored versions of sweaters.
  • etcetera:hats – Contains all colored versions of hats.
  • etcetera:hammerable & etcetera:chisellable – Blocks that play a sound when right-clicked with the respective tool. Does not affect actual recipes. For example, Anvils and Smithing Tables are in the hammerable tag, so they can be hammered for roleplay purposes.
  • etcetera:non_modifiable – Blocks that cannot be modified by a Wrench.
  • etcetera:offset_remover – Blocks that remove the XY offset of other blocks placed on top of them.
  • etcetera:tap_lava / etcetera:tap_water / etcetera:tap_honey / etcetera:tap_rubber / etcetera:tap_crying_obsidian / etcetera:tap_always_placeable – Blocks that determine what liquids the Copper Tap can extract.
