Description
ARE YOU TIRED OF THIS?
You're playing hardcore with friends when suddenly someone dies.
Tragic. Really.
Anyway.
Now you're faced with a choice: either you continue playing without that friend or you say goodbye to your world and create a new one.
There's no other choice.
OR IS THERE?
I present to you ETHEREAL MEDIUMCORE
The concept of this mod is simple: It allows you to revive your fallen friends for a price ('cause come on, it's hardcore not survival)
A TERRIBLE PRICE
Ethereal Mediumcore adds a new block: the Ethereal Campfire. This block is at the center of the new revive mechanic.

To make an ethereal campfire, you will first need to craft a soul campfire, place it, and then throw an offering (by default this will be an echo shard, giving you something to make of them in hardcore), making the fire turn white.
Once you have made an ethereal campfire, you just need to walk into it to use it. Doing so will take away half of your current max health, and store it in a life charge.
I SEE DEAD PEOPLE
With the life charge in your hands, you are able to see dead players in spectator around you.
You can now use the life charge on your friend to revive them. Their max health will be set to the amount stored in the life charge and they will come back to life.
Alternatively, if you stepped on an ethereal campfire by mistake or just wanted to make a life charge for fun, you can eat it yourself to recover your missing max health (but you won't get your offering back)
ETHEREAL MEDIUMCORE IS A MOD INTENDED FOR HARDCORE MULTIPLAYER, but
All features of this mod also works in classic survival.
While you may not need to revive other players, you can still store half your max health in life charges and trade it with others.
Why would you do that? Idk man.
OKAY BUT ECHO SHARDS ARE HARD TO GET AND FINITE CAN'T YOU MAKE THE OFFERING BE DIRT?
Well, you can configure this mod to change the offering to your liking. It can be any item/block of your choice, can be a list of items, anything.
Tags also work so if you want logs or trim templates to be an offering, it should work.
IT GAVE MY FRIEND EMPTY HEARTS, THEY FELT BETRAYED AND WON'T TALK TO ME ANYMORE
You can also change the config to make it so consuming a life charge heals you if you want to.
ACCIDENTAL EMERGENT GAMEPLAY
An ethereal campfire will never split your hearts in half (because minecraft would display it awkwardly). If dividing your max health by 2 would result in splitting a heart in half, it will instead let you keep the whole heart (but won't store it in the charge).
The only exception is if you try to sacrifice half your life while at 1 max heart, which will kill you.
There is no way to store an arbitrary amount of hearts in a life charge, so be careful playing with ethereal campfires because going back to 10 hearts might get costly.
Oh, one last thing
This is my first ever mod, so things might break.
Hopefully they don't.
