Explorer's Badges

Every biome you discover awards a unique badge — 63 in total, laid out in a hexagonal honeycomb sorted by rarity. Each badge grants a small stat boost, and collecting them unlocks masteries with bigger rewards, including two active abilities.

⚠️ About owo-lib

Download its NeoForge build, which is a beta (0.12.15.1-beta.6+1.21). owo-lib's stable releases are Fabric-only, so the beta is the correct choice despite the label. You do not need Forgified Fabric API separately — owo-lib bundles it inside its own jar.

How to play

You spawn in a Common tier biome. From there, entering a new biome grants you its badge, along with a chat message and its advancement.

• G — Second Wind (Legendary mastery): Speed II and no hunger drain · 10s, 30s cooldown
• H — Feather Step (Master mastery): fall immunity · 10s, 30s cooldown — press again mid-fall to glide

Inside the honeycomb, drag to pan and scroll to zoom. Clicking a badge opens its card, where you can switch its stat off without losing the badge itself.

Where you spawn

On a new world, the spawn is moved to a Common tier Overworld biome, picked at random from these 13:

beach · birch_forest · dark_forest · desert · forest · jungle · old_growth_birch_forest · plains · river · savanna · snowy_plains · snowy_taiga · taiga

Why: your first badge should be one you have not earned yet. Vanilla can drop you straight into Jagged Peaks or Mushroom Fields, handing you an Ultra rare badge before you take a single step and skewing the whole progression.

Why no oceans: seven ocean biomes sit in the Common tier, because rarity follows how much of the world they cover. That is the right measure for a badge and the wrong one for a starting point — spawning over deep water with no land or wood in sight ruined roughly a third of all worlds during testing. beach and river stay in the pool, since both have solid ground right next to them.

It runs once per world, searching within 2000 blocks of the vanilla spawn. If nothing is found in range, your original spawn is kept. This only applies to newly created worlds — adding the mod to an existing save never moves its spawn.

Masteries

Configuration

On first launch the mod creates config/Explorer's Badges/explorer_badges_config.toml, where you can retune the tier, dimension, category and reward of all 63 biomes, plus the milestones. Each biome also accepts statOverride to use a different attribute, and valueOverride to set an exact value.

The mod never overwrites an existing config. After updating, delete the file if you want the new defaults.

To play it purely as a collection with no stat changes, set statsEnabledGlobally = false, or use the toggle on the main screen — that one is per player.
