Extinct Animals

Extinct Animals is a Minecraft modpack that adds 3 prehistoric animals (Woolly Mammoth, Megalodon, and Dodo) with custom animations, textures, sounds, and drops for the CurseForge ModJam 2026 event.

GeckoLib is required to run this mod.

The Mobs

Woolly Mammoth

• Spawns: Snowy biomes.
• Features: A massive land mammal that wanders the cold plains. It is hostile towards a few other mobs and the player unless you are wearing the Woolly Tunic, which makes it neutral. It can break certain blocks while charging to attack like a Ravager. It features custom walking and attacking animations alongside unique sounds.
• Drops:
  • Mammoth Meat: An edible food source that gives high saturation, 30 seconds of regeneration, and 60 seconds of strength.
  • Woolly Tunic: A custom tunic that protects you from freezing damage and keeps Mammoths neutral towards you. If you hit a Mammoth, it will become hostile regardless of what you are wearing.
  • Mammoth Tusk Block: A decorative tusk block that can only be placed on the bottom face of a solid block.

Megalodon

• Spawns: Deep ocean biomes.
• Features: A giant ocean predator that swims fast and attacks players. In combat, it can swallow the player whole, before spitting you back out (if you survive!). It deals massive damage in normal or hardcore mode enough to kill a player wearing max enchanted netherite armor in one shot. It features custom swimming animations and deep underwater sounds.
• Drops:
  • Mega Block: A solid, durable megalodon tooth replica dropped upon defeating the Megalodon.
• Craftables & Equipment:
  • Mega Sword: A powerful heavy melee weapon crafted with Mega Blocks and sticks.
  • Mega Axe: A high damage combat and chopping tool crafted with Mega Blocks and sticks.
  • Mega Spear: A long reach thrusting melee weapon crafted with Mega Blocks and sticks.

Dodo

• Spawns: Forests, swamps, jungles, and beaches.
• Features: A flightless bird that wanders land. It is a passive mob that runs away from the player if hit. Feeding it seeds restores its health and it can be put on a lead too. It takes zero fall damage like the chicken featuring custom idle, feeding and running animations with bird calls.
• Drops:
  • Dodo Drumstick: A basic meat food source dropped upon death.
  • Dodo Feather: A lightweight feather used to make skittish arrows.
• Craftables & Equipment:
  • Skittish Arrow: A special arrow crafted using Dodo Feathers, a stick, and flint. When shot from any standard bow/crossbow at a regular(hostile/neutral/passive) mob it forces the target mob to panic and run away from the player (just like the dodo flees when hit). Boss mobs are immune to this effect.

How to Install

1. Download and install the Fabric Loader for Minecraft version 26.2.
2. Download the required GeckoLib mod jar file (fabric version 5.5.3 recommended)
3. Place both the Extinct Animals jar file and the GeckoLib jar file into your Minecraft .minecraft/mods folder.
4. Start the game.

The Mobs

Woolly Mammoth

• Spawns: Snowy biomes.

Megalodon

How to Install
