What is Familiar Friends?

Familiar Friends is a mod based on a very, very old Minecraft mod from back in the day called Familiars. I had a lot of nostalgia for the mod so I decided to port it over to modern Minecraft!

This mod adds 20 familiars that grant the player new effects and abilities, some based on the original familiars (with a fresh coat of paint), and some entirely new! Each Familiar can be unlocked using experience, and then equipped using the Book of Familiars. The Book of Familiars is crafted with a book and various mob spoils.

All Familiars in the mod can have their cost changed and can be disabled via the configs.

FAQ

Q: What if I want more familiars?

A: The mod was made in a way so that adding your own familiars is relatively easy (so long as you know some Java)! As of writing this, there isn't any documentation for adding your own familiars, but I should have documentation on how to add your own written at some point! In the mean time, the github is open, along with my server (I'll be sure to respond as soon as I can!).

Q: Will you port to Forge/NeoForge?

A: I might, but don't count on it. It does work with Sinytra Connector

Q: Will you port to Version 1.X.X?

A: I have no plans to backport to any version prior to 1.20.1! As for porting forward, It depends on what the modding landscape on that version looks like.

Q: When will 1.21.1 be updated?

A: 1.21.1 will be updated once I finish an update for 1.20.1, as I plan on refractoring a few things, and it's easier for me to port forward.

Q: What are Future Plans for the mod?

A: I plan to potentially add more familiars in the future and potentially even the ability to add new Familiars via json, I'll also update if something comes to my attention that would good for quality of life for people interested in adding familiars
