About
Description

Fangs 'n Claws is a mod that adds new RPG-style monsters with unique characteristics. Each of these creatures has a specific role, enriching your survival experience. The mod also introduces new materials and useful items with unique mechanics.
To disable/change the spawn of each creature you can change it in the mod settings or in the gamerules.
This mod is inspired by Mo' Creatures from DrZhark
Mobs :
Goblin

Goblins are vicious creatures, alone they are not very strong, but in a group they will not hesitate to attack you treacherously. If they are behind you they can steal items from your inventory.
Dart Goblin

A Goblin armed with a blowgun, attacking from a distance. Its darts inflict Venom, scrambling the target's controls and leaving them disoriented.
Evil Bat

Evil bats are flying pests, not very strong but a common new flying nuisance.
Ogre

The Ogre is a brutal but slow monster; however, don't underestimate him. If you hide, he won't hesitate to pulverize your shelter. If you are close enough or if he can't catch you it has a special "slam" attack that will destroy blocks nearby the impact point
Werewolf

Werewolves are aggressive mobs with the ability to shape-shift, they look like villagers but when night falls they show their real appearance. They have a special "bite" attack that inflicts Bleeding. Like in the folklore, Werewolves are resistant to all weapons (damages/2) but they are highly vulnerable to silver.
Wild Wolf

Wolves that hunt in packs led by an alpha, coming in five coat colours. They drop Fur, the key material of the Fur armor set. Wear a Fur Helmet and they will leave you alone.
Silver Skeleton

A skeleton equipped with armor and two silver swords, they are fast and can hit very hard. But if you kill one, it might drop a prized weapon.
Ghost

A lost soul wanders the night, don't think you can escape it, it can pass through walls.
Fire Ghost

A burning soul that drifts through walls just like an ordinary Ghost, but every touch sets you ablaze. It haunts the Overworld at night and lurks in the Crimson Forest and Nether Wastes.
Cave Ogre

Cave version of the Ogre, it has slightly more health points.
Scorpion

Scorpions are agile climbers, able to scale walls with ease. Their venomous stinger inflicts Nausea, leaving you disoriented after every strike. Right-click a baby Scorpion to tame it; it then rides on your head (sneak to dismount). A baby raised while tamed grows into an adult you can ride with a Sturdy Saddle: it cannot jump but climbs walls. Heal a tamed Scorpion with Chitin.
Scorpions come in three biome variants, each tamed, ridden and healed the exact same way:
Desert Scorpion

A variant that spawns in desert biomes during the day. Inflicts Hunger.
Frost Scorpion

A variant that spawns in snowy biomes. Inflicts Slowness.
Nether Scorpion

A variant that spawns in the Crimson Forest and the Nether Wastes. Sets you on fire.
Imp

A small fiend dwelling in the Nether, the Imp flies and strikes with rapid dashes. Wielding a fire pitchfork, it can Brand its enemies. And once three marks are applied, they exploded in a fiery explosion.
Owlbear

Owlbear is a force of nature, avoid waking him. As dangerous on the ground as he is in the air, he is dangerous in all circumstances. If you think you've outrun him, beware, he has a special "dive" attack that will stun you if you are hit.
Feed a Baby Owlbear/Shrike salmon to tame it. A tamed baby behaves like a cat, sitting down to sleep or follow you.
Shrike

An Owlbear subspecies that spawns in snowy forests and snowy taigas. It fights mostly at range, loosing volleys of feathers and unleashing a freezing blizzard that pushes, slows and freezes. Shrikes drop Snow Duvet, used to upgrade Owl armor into Shrike armor.
Feed a Baby Owlbear/Shrike salmon to tame it. A tamed baby behaves like a cat, sitting down to sleep or follow you.
Golem

A simple pile of mud and dirt brought to life by a mysterious totem. The only way to defeat it is to directly attack what brought it to life, but before that, you'll have to hit it hard enough to make it fall. Being little more than packed earth, it is especially vulnerable to shovels, which knock it down far faster. If he can't reach you he'll use his special "throw" attack, launching his hand as a projectile. Get hit, and you'll be inflicted with Slowness.
Ice Golem

The frozen version of the Golem, found in snowy biomes. Its icy blows can freeze you solid, and every so often you'll spot a fish trapped inside its frozen body.
Hell Ogre

A more powerful variant of the Ogre, hardened by the fires of the Nether. In addition to its devastating "slam" attack, it can unleash a fire breath attack on its victims.
Mimic

A predator that disguises itself as an ordinary loot chest inside structures. Open the wrong one and it snaps shut on you, chewing away while it holds you in place. Its weakness: chop it down with an axe.
Horse Bat

A winged steed of the night. Once tamed and fitted with a Sturdy Saddle, it carries you into the skies as a flying mount. Beware the sun, though. Like the undead horses it burns in daylight unless you equip it with a Horse Blanket.
Nightmare Horse

A spectral horse born of the Nether. Tame it, saddle it with a Sturdy Saddle and it becomes a fearsome mount that charges forward at a sprint, trailing embers behind it.
Items :
Heavy Claw

A thick, dense claw that feels unnaturally heavy in the hand. Dropped by Owlbears, Shrikes and Werewolves.
Long Fang

A razor-sharp fang that still carries the scent of the hunt. Dropped by Werewolves.
Giant Feather

A large, surprisingly light feather despite its impressive size. Dropped by Owlbears. Can be used for Speed 2 potions.
Vile Fat

Greasy, foul-smelling fat that feels just as awful as it looks. Dropped by Ogres. Can be used as fuel and in Nausea potions.
Spectral Essence

A translucent, weightless residue that seems to phase through your fingers. Dropped by Ghosts and Fire Ghosts.
Black Horn

A jagged, pitch-black horn that crumbles slightly at the edges, as if scorched from within. Dropped by Hell Ogre.
Scorpion Sting

Needle-sharp tip of a scorpion's stinger, still faintly slick with venom. Dropped by Scorpions. Can be used in Venom potions.
Chitin

Rigid plates shed from a scorpion's carapace, tough enough to be forged into armor. Dropped by Scorpions. Also used to heal tamed Scorpions.
Fur

Thick, warm fur torn from a wolf's hide. Dropped by Wild Wolves.
Snow Duvet

Dropped by Shrikes. Combined with the Shrike Upgrade Smithing Template to turn Owl armor into Shrike armor.
Owlbear Meat

A hearty cut of meat dropped by Owlbears. Edible raw, but cooking it makes a far more nourishing meal.
Fang Dagger

A light, curved dagger carved from a Werewolf fang. Striking an enemy from behind inflicts Bleeding, dealing damage over time. Crafted with a Long Fang and a Stick.
Available as a Netherite upgrade.
Catching Claw

A hooked claw launcher built for crowd control. Hook a target and retrieve it to launch them toward your crosshair. Crafted with three Heavy Claws and a Fishing Rod.
Available as a Netherite upgrade.
Silver Sword

A blade forged from pure silver, the only weapon that can effectively kill a Werewolf. It deals +2 magic damage that ignores armor. Dropped by Silver Skeletons.
Blowgun

A lightweight hollow bamboo, carved and balanced for silent, long-range strikes. Fires Poisonous Darts that inflict Venom on impact.
Tomahawk

A throwing axe. Its melee stats sit one damage below an iron axe. Right-click to throw it. It spins through the air, damages the first target it hits, comeback if he hit. It can also be fired from a dispenser.
Fire Pitchfork

A smoldering three-pronged weapon that brands its target with Flamebrand on every hit — land three marks and they erupt in flames. Dropped by Imps.
Hellfire Pitchfork

A more devastating variant of the Fire Pitchfork, forged deeper in the Nether's heat and branding enemies with Hellfire Flamebrand. Available as an upgrade to the Fire Pitchfork with three black horns and one block of coal.
Evil Eye

A cursed eye that can be thrown like a projectile. On impact, it blinds all nearby enemies and instantly kills flying pests (Evil Bat, Phantom). Dropped by Evil Bats.
Poisonous Dart

A slender dart tipped with hardened chitin and dipped in toxin. Fired from a Blowgun, it inflicts Venom on any target it hits.
Velocity Arrow

A robust and aerodynamic arrow designed for long distances. It has a higher velocity than a normal arrow. Made with an iron nugget, a bone, and a giant feather.
Vile Lantern

A lantern filled with vile fuel that repels monsters. Nearby hostile creatures will flee from its glow. Crafted with a Lantern and Vile Fat.
Ghost Block

A translucent block that can be passed through. Right-click a block to embed it inside, allowing it to blend into its surroundings. Crafted with 8 ghostly essences surrounding a block of glass.
Bear Trap

A metal trap placed on the ground. Snaps shut on any entity that steps on it, dealing damage and inflicting Bleeding. Right-click to reset it. Crafted with Long Fangs, Iron Ingots and a Stone Pressure Plate.
Sturdy Saddle

A reinforced saddle used to ride a tamed adult Scorpion as well as any of the mod's horse mobs (Horse Bat, Nightmare Horse, Zombie Horse, Skeleton Horse).
Horse Blanket

Armor for the mod's horses (Nightmare Horse, Skeleton Horse, Zombie Horse and Horse Bat). Equip it in their armor slot for extra protection; it also stops the horse from burning in sunlight.
Shrike Upgrade Smithing Template

A smithing template that upgrades Owl armor into Shrike armor. The helmet, leggings and boots are upgraded with Snow Duvet; the chestplate with an Elytra. Craft the template from Snow Duvet and Diamond.
Totem of Frost

When held, it activates automatically at 25% health or below: it fully heals you and freezes every nearby enemy.
Armors :
Scorpion Armor

A suit of interlocking chitin plates, hardened to a near-metallic sheen. Each piece grants immunity to one effect: the helmet negates Nausea, the chestplate negates Poison, the leggings negate Venom, and the boots negate Hunger. Crafted from Chitin.
Fur Armor Set

Warm gear crafted from Fur. Wearing Fur reduces freezing in powder snow and freezing attacks; a full set makes you immune. The helmet makes Wild Wolves ignore you, and the boots keep you from sinking into powder snow.
Owl Armor Set

Crafted from Giant Feather. Every piece reduces fall damage, reduces descent speed when gliding and increases "flap" power. The chestplate lets you "flap" upward (tap jump in mid-air) and glide (hold jump).
Shrike Armor Set

An upgrade of Owl armor. Same than Owl Armor but with better stats. The chestplate works as an Elytra with an upward-and-forward flap boost. Made by upgrading Owl armor with the Shrike Upgrade Smithing Template and Snow Duvet/Elytra.
Enchantments :
Critical Backstab
Fang Dagger / Netherite Dagger only. Backstabs deal bonus damage, increasing with level.
Quick Killer
Fang Dagger / Netherite Dagger only. Shortens the backstab cooldown and grants a burst of Speed after a successful backstab.
Item Catcher
Catching Claw / Netherite Catching Claw only. The hook can grab dropped items and reel them back to you.
Scratch
Catching Claw / Netherite Catching Claw only. Increases its melee attack damage, scaling with level.
Blazing
Fire Pitchfork / Hellfire Pitchfork only. Deals up to +2.5 bonus damage to targets that are on fire.
Effects :
Bleeding

An open wound that worsens with every step. Deals damage whenever the afflicted entity moves, and slows their movement. Crouch for 2 seconds to apply pressure and stop the bleeding.
Stunned

A disorienting blow that briefly locks the target in place. Completely freezes movement, while stars spin around the victim's head. Wears off instantly upon taking damage.
Venom

A disorienting toxin that scrambles the body's signals, left becomes right, forward becomes back, turning every attempt to flee into a step closer to danger.
Frozen

A biting cold that locks the body solid. Completely immobilizes the afflicted in an ice cube, dragging their movement to a halt. Jump multiple time to break the ice.
Flamebrand

A searing brand that builds beneath the skin with each strike. Three marks and the accumulated heat erupts in a violent burst of flame.
