That steak in your chest? It's going bad.
Survival Protocol makes staying alive a daily job. Every food in your game spoils, so cook it, salt it, smoke it and pack it for the road. Light burns out, sleep matters, and your camp goes wherever you do.
- Every food spoils, vanilla and modded: raw meat turns in days, a sealed can lasts months 🥩
- Fridges and freezers buy you time, desert heat steals it ❄️🔥
- Salt it, smoke it, pickle it, or dig a root cellar 🧂
- Hunt and trap: snares, fish traps, a hunting knife 🏹
- Light runs out: torches burn down, lanterns drink oil 🔦
- Sleep is a resource: skip it and you collapse 😴
- A camp you can carry, as long as you can handle what a fire in the dark brings in ⛺
🕒 Food goes bad. Plan ahead.

Fresh food fills you up. Stale food fills you less. Spoiling food makes you sick. Freshness shows right on the item, and it works on food from every mod in the pack, including ones you add later.
- A fridge or freezer slows the clock way down.
- Desert heat speeds it up. Snow keeps things longer.
- Spoiled meat becomes Rotten Flesh. Everything else goes to the compost.
🧂 Salt it. Smoke it. Bury it.
Cooking is for tonight. Preserving is for next week.
- Salt it: rub raw meat with salt and it keeps far longer.
- Smoke it: salted meat and fish come out of the smoker as a proper meal.
- Pickle it: jar your veggies and they outlast almost everything.
- Dig a root cellar, or pack a Cold Cache with ice. No power needed.
🍲 Cook it. Dry it. Seal it.

- Stew Pot: one big pot over the fire feeds the whole camp. Bone Broth, Hunter's Stew, Survivor's Porridge and Infected-Zone Chili.
- Drying Rack: just sun and dry weather. Raw meat becomes jerky, fruit becomes dried fruit.
- Canning: seal your own stew in a can for the longest runs.
- Skewers: two bits of meat on a stick over any campfire.
- Field Rations: eat in under a second when there's no time to stop.
- Instant Coffee: a short burst of speed, found out in the world.
- Well Fed: teammates who share a pot get hungry more slowly 🤝
- Quartermaster Crate: buy field supplies with Kaos Credits.
🏹 Hunt and trap
Wild animals bolt when they hear you coming, so the patient eat best.
- Snares: bait one, walk away, come back to dinner.
- Fish traps: load one with grubs and the stream does the work.
- Hunting knife: kill clean for extra meat and a second hide.
- Tan the hide: turn hides, even rotten flesh, into leather on a rack.
🔦 The light runs out
- Torches burn out. Rain snuffs them; relight with flint or any flame.
- Lanterns drink oil. Refill from an oil can or sit in the dark.
- Fires spread. Ring your campfire with stones before the grass catches.
- Hooded Lantern: close the shutter and your camp stays dim enough to hide in.
😴 Sleep is a resource
- Skip sleep and you get tired, then exhausted, then you collapse.
- Sleep well a few nights running and your hunger slows down.
- Grab a quick nap in the day to shake off the worst of it.
⛺ A camp you can carry

Set up anywhere. But a fire or a clattering pot at night is a dinner bell for the infected.
- Sleeping Bag: a bed in your pack. Lay it down and it's your new spawn.
- Insulated Sleeping Bag: keeps the cold off while you sleep.
- Tarp Tent: pitch a canvas tent anywhere level, then pack it back into one item.
- Tarp Cover: keeps your Drying Rack working in the rain.
- Rain Collector and Camp Kettle: fresh water in a city with no river.
- Can Alarm: string and tin cans. If something crosses it, you hear it.
- Field Campfire and Signal Flare: cook anywhere, and show your whole team where you are.
♻ Nothing goes to waste

- Empty cans become new Canned Stew, or smelt back into iron.
- The bones the night leaves on your doorstep become Bone Broth.
Works with
Everything here is optional. It plays nicely with Legendary Survival Overhaul, Refurbished Furniture and Survival Instinct. With the rest of Federation Of Kaos, a cooking pot or a rattling can alarm draws Outbreak Protocol's infected, the Quartermaster takes Kaos Credits, and a Pocket Domain campsite comes with its own Stew Pot and Drying Rack.
Requirements
Minecraft 1.20.1 with Forge. No other mods required.
Part of Federation Of Kaos, a post-collapse modpack built around ten in-house mods. Each one works on its own and pulls its weight in the pack.
