I'd also like to credit the contributions of EclipseValley, Idk (mordimille) and Weether as well as the discord in making this mod much better :)

I've always wanted a monster expansion, but a lot of mob and boss mods didn't quite scratch that vanilla itch I had, so I made the mod myself! I am sorry if the quality isn't the best, I'm mostly an artist but I gave it my best :) (not all mcreator mods are reskins btw, though I understand performance concerns)

Most of the monsters added spawn on all biomes following traditional monster spawning rules, but some like the Shackled are biome restricted and the bosses need a certain item to be summoned (Ominous Hex)

Discord server: https://discord.gg/aFC5bjFkNC(SPANISH and ENGLISH)

Modrinth link: https://modrinth.com/mod/fights-frights (I advise you dowload it from here)

JEI or similar is highly recommended to view recipes

I can't garantee compatability with other mods, it's up to mcreator

ALL MONSTER SPAWNS (spawnMob) AND SOME FEATURES LIKE THE PATHOGEN (doinfection) EFFECT CAN BE DISABLED/ENABLED THROUGH GAMERULES IN THE LATEST VERSIONS. A LIST OF GAMERULES CAN BE FOUND AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS PAGE.

Thanks to everyone that has downloaded the mod, really. I am very open to any and all feedback except people complaining about mcreator being itself, can't really fix that one :(

**Text descriptions: ** _Mobs _

Terrantula:

Terrantulas are the shier cousins of the Spider. They wait below ground for their prey to get close, then pounce once the time is right. If a Terrantula is hit multiple times, it may temporarily dig underground to reposition for a better attack.

Banshaa:

Banshaas are smaller, louder Ghasts from the Overworld and the Nether. They dislike direct combat, but won't hesitate to scream and lure other monsters toward their prey.

Scowl:

Scowls are said to be the monstrous winged relatives of the mythical Glare. They use their rotting insides to spit out poisonous gas clouds, and while they can fly, their wings are only used for limited steering — they rely instead on an air-filled sac that keeps them buoyant. This sac can be popped with an arrow. Scowls are found in jungles and lush caves.

Pioneer:

Pioneers are thought to belong to the Golem family of mobs, though who built them remains a mystery. They have a natural dislike for Scowls and Terrantulas, using their tough iron exteriors to make quick work of them.

Mimentis:

Mimentises are masters of disguise. Lacking any offensive abilities, they instead copy the likeness and movesets of other monsters, running away whenever their disguise is broken.

Mimic Beetle:

Mimic Beetles are colonial organisms that inhabit certain ores. These small bugs work together to form a larger, more imposing organism to defend their home. Offering them a Terrantula Leg or Gill may convince them to abandon their home and scatter.

Grimmsquito:

Disgusting warm biome farers. Grimmsquitoes spawn in jungles, swamps, and deserts, but it's recommended to avoid looking at their horrible little arthopod faces. They will fly around and inflict various harmful effects upon landing an attack.

Reanimated:

Its flesh has been reawakened by the lightning coursing through its plating. This miniboss can be summoned by striking a special structure with a Channeling trident. It strikes nearby entities with lightning, so it's best to keep your distance.

Allman:

Allmen are ancient prisoners of an unknown civilization. When attacked, they have a chance to summon help through their shackled flying creations. These creations aren't much of a threat on their own, but when they break, they leave behind a blinding cloud. They can be found in dark forests and taigas.

Seer:

Seers form when undead souls with no body converge in a single spot. They're made of a non-Newtonian jelly that hardens on impact, greatly amplifying the knockback of their attacks. Seers can be found in cold biomes and beaches.

Patuti:

Patutis are fish-like monsters often hunted for their gills. Their short stature is deceptive — they're fast, agile hunters who like to hide in humid places.

_Items: _

Terrantula Tequeños — Teleport the player and grant Invisibility and Haste; useful for exiting caves. Terrantula Leg — Its digging capabilities can be harvested through brewing or consumption.

Gazing — Mobs affected by this contract "Mad," becoming more aggressive, tracking from further away, and moving faster. Mad can also be applied to the player as a beneficial effect. Averted — The opposite of Gazing: reduces mob tracking and speed via the "Calm" effect. Can be brewed with a Gazing potion and a Mimentis Claw. Banshaa's Lungs — The mind-controlling scream can be consumed by the player or brewed into Maddening, Gazing, or Aversion potions.

Crusher — Crafted from a Scowl's tongue and other monster ingredients; turns monster remains into XP. Golden Tongue — This air-filled tongue can be consumed to levitate like a Scowl, with a curious glowing side effect. Monster Pop — Crafted from Golden Tongues and Jelly. When consumed, it reveals the location of nearby monsters.

VSD (Variable Speed Driver) — A block that channels charged flesh and chips into acceleration for entities. Chip — An essential component of the Pioneer, acting as its soul. It grants experience when consumed and is used to build various technological blocks.

Mime Blocks / Reinforced Mimentis Claw — Mimentis claws can craft invisible Mime Blocks, as well as the Reinforced Mimentis Claw — a reusable, fully-enchantable pickaxe version of the Mimentis Claw. Mimentis Claw — Used to propel yourself forward or pull mobs closer; also an essential ingredient in Bug Dust.

Mimic Beetle (item) — The lone survivor of a disbanded Mimic Beetle colony. Can duplicate ores or craft the addictive Bug Dust, though consuming it isn't recommended — withdrawal can be deadly.

Proboscis — Extracted from more exotic Grimmsquitoes. Can be thrown to inflict their respective effects or crafted into a syringe. Forewing — Grants the player a small upward boost when used. Also a key ingredient in Bug Dust and an alternative for brewing Slow Falling.

Charged Flesh — Can be eaten for a speed boost at the cost of health, or crafted into Charged Chili for a bigger speed boost plus fire resistance. Thunder Core — Can be thrown to strike lightning at a distance, or used to craft Charged Flesh and Ominous Hexes.

Allbomb — A classic smoke bomb. Shackle — Harvested from an Allman's bindings; used to attack and temporarily immobilize a target. Empty Hex — An unfilled hex — perhaps it can be filled with something.

Blunt Javelin — Made from Jelly. Deals no damage, but its knockback power is undeniable. Jelly — Versatile due to its physical properties. Consuming it grants the Jellied effect, increasing armor and knockback resistance when hurt. There's also an explosion-resistant Jelly block set.

Pungent Soup — Made from a bone handle, a Gill, and a bowl — the world's worst-tasting food, though your saturation will thank you. Gills — Unpleasant smell and worse taste, but grant the beneficial Amphibian effect on consumption, making water travel effortless.

Ravager Horn — Dropped by Ravagers. Can be played to gain temporary strength. Ominous Bottle — Backported from later versions; can be crafted, or spat out along with milk, honey, or a Golden Tongue while under Bad Omen. Elder Spine — Dropped by Elder Guardians. Can be brewed into "Guardian's Strength" (Grace + Conduit Power + Strength).

Rotten Handle — Mostly a crafting ingredient, but can be eaten if you really hate yourself. Putrid Scythe — Not massive damage, but inflicts Poison on hit. Also works as an iron hoe.

Rotten Block — Don't step on it — the foul smell will hurt you. Mostly a way to compact rotten material and show off. Blightcap — A mushroom that can be grown from a Rotten Block with bone meal in caves. Fully grown, it produces its own set of wood and blocks, needed for the Crusher.

Monster Salad — A "delicious" monster meal combining every effect of its ingredients at once. Monstrous Plate — A copper alloy used to craft a variety of things, most notably an armor set that turns you into the monster.

Redstone Display — A 7-segment display showing the power of the strongest redstone line connected to it. Circuit Lever — Outputs different redstone strengths depending on player input (shift to decrease).

Monstrous Armor — Each piece grants buffs depending on the ingredients used to craft it. Buffs mostly revolve around effects, so mixing and matching with other armor pieces gets the most out of them.

Peeping Hivestone — Found in the new "Hive" Nether biome; watchful creepy-crawlies lie within. Can be mined without Silk Touch for random ore or bug rewards. Mystery Block — You already know what this is.

Antidote — Cures a viral infection contracted from the undead or raw meat. Crafted from any suspicious stew or flower. Syringe — Filled with the antidote, allowing it to be injected into non-players to cure them. Requires any Proboscis to craft.

Dreamcatcher — A decoration that can be hung almost anywhere, with the practical use of rewarding players who keep a consistent sleep schedule. After waking, deposit your dreams on it to gain XP and a positive effect — just hope you didn't have a nightmare (there's a corresponding Nightmare item).

Trashcan — Dump items into it to turn them into Slop. Compatible with redstone and hoppers, so junk disposal can be automated. Slop — A byproduct of Trashcans. Can be ignored, or used as an ugly temporary/building block.

Ominous Essence — A concentrated version of the Ominous Bottle. Curses nearby mobs when drunk, or is used to craft Ominous Plating. Chitin — A shining component found in almost every arthropod's exoskeleton. Used to craft a variety of blocks or Monstrous Plating.

Ominous Armor — Same abilities as Monstrous Armor, but with much greater durability and protection thanks to reinforcement with Ominous Plating.

Ominous Hex — Used to summon the mod's bosses, though it won't be easy to acquire. Can be given to Piglins, Illagers, and the undead by right-clicking them with it.

_Boss Items _

  • Ominous Gem — Shoots the General's projectiles; can be used to upgrade to the Deadsteel Scimitar, which applies Poison.
  • Ominous Scepter — Shoots projectiles when not fully charged. Charging it longer summons helpful "Effigies" that attack monsters.
  • Ominous Tusk — Explodes on use, immobilizing anyone caught in the blast. Also makes Piglins fear the player while it's in their inventory.
