Flash Boost

Flash Boost is a Fabric mod inspired by The Flash, built around the idea of gaining, developing, and mastering your own Speed Force.

The mod adds 20 speed levels, multiple Speed Force colors, progression, wall phasing, water running, lightning attacks, custom particle trails, passive regeneration, overheating mechanics, collectible Boxes of Speed, and much more.

⚡ Speed Force

Use a Flash Boost to gain access to the Speed Force.

There are 20 speed levels, and higher levels provide increasingly extreme movement speed. Your Speed Force progression is based on distance traveled, so you become faster by actually using your powers.

Progression begins with:

• Level 1 → 2: 500 blocks
• Level 2 → 3: 1,000 blocks
• Level 3 → 4: 2,000 blocks
• Level 4 → 5: 3,000 blocks
• Level 5 → 6: 4,000 blocks
• Higher levels continue scaling upward.

Your Speed Force progression is stored separately for each world.

🎮 Controls

X — Toggle Speed Force
Z — Decrease current speed level
C — Increase current speed level
V — Toggle Water Running
B — Toggle Phasing
G — Start charging / throw a Speed Force Lightning Bolt

Keybinds do not activate while typing in chat, browsing your inventory, or using other GUI screens.

Water Running

Unlocked at Level 3.

Press V to toggle the ability to run across the surface of water while maintaining your normal horizontal movement.

Phasing

Unlocked at Level 5.

Press B to phase through solid walls while keeping the ground beneath you solid.

⚡ Lightning Throw

Lightning Throw becomes available at Speed Level 10 or higher.

Press G to begin charging the attack, then run 250 blocks while moving at Speed 10+.

Once fully charged:

• electricity around your body becomes much stronger and faster;
• small Speed Force discharges begin striking the ground around you;
• you have 15 seconds to press G again.

Press G again to launch a fast lightning projectile in the exact direction you are looking.

The projectile:

• follows your camera pitch and yaw;
• leaves a colored electrical trail;
• collides with blocks or entities;
• calls down a lightning strike on impact;
• uses the same color as your current Flash Boost.

If the charged attack is not used within 15 seconds, the stored energy discharges harmlessly into the ground.

❤️ Speed Force Regeneration

Having the Speed Force grants enhanced passive regeneration.

Speed Force users regenerate health approximately 2.5× faster than normal passive regeneration.

Running at high speeds also consumes additional hunger, making extreme speed more expensive to maintain.

🔥 Overheating

Running at extreme speeds without suitable protection can overheat the player.

A single compatible piece of decorated armor can provide the required protection.

Overheating can also be globally disabled with:

/gamerule flamewhilerunning false

Enable it again with:

/gamerule flamewhilerunning true

🎨 Flash Boost Colors

Flash Boost exists in all 16 vanilla Minecraft dye colors:

White, Orange, Magenta, Light Blue, Yellow, Lime, Pink, Gray, Light Gray, Cyan, Purple, Blue, Brown, Green, Red and Black.

Your Speed Force trail and lightning abilities use the selected Boost color.

🛠️ Flash Boost Crafting

Each colored Flash Boost uses the following recipe:

Change the center dye to create a different Speed Force color.

✨ Particle Customization

Flash Boost includes customizable Speed Force trails.

Commands:

/flashboost particles amount

Shows the current amount of small trail particles.

/flashboost particles amount <amount>

Changes the particle amount.

/flashboost particles on
/flashboost particles off

Enables or disables Flash Boost particles.

/flashboost particles color <color>

Overrides the trail color.

Example:

/flashboost particles color lime

Use:

/flashboost particles color default

to restore the default behavior.

📦 Box of Speed

The mod also adds the Box of Speed — a small black and gray Speed Force container with a lightning symbol on its lid.

Boxes can naturally appear placed on top of structure chests, rather than inside them.

Spawn Chances

Desert Pyramid — 1/12 per eligible chest

Most common colors:
Yellow, Orange, White

Ancient City — 1/6 per eligible chest

Most common colors:
Blue, Purple, Black, Gray

Bastion — 1/8 per eligible chest

Most common colors:
Red, Orange, Yellow, Black

Every other Flash Boost color can still appear, but at a lower probability.

Box Controls

When the Box of Speed is closed:

• Right Click — Open
• Shift + Right Click — Pick up the box

When opened:

• Right Click — Take the Flash Boost inside
• Shift + Right Click — Close the box

The colored Speed Force stone can be seen inside the opened box.

🔎 Locating Boxes

Use:

/flashboost box locate

or:

/flashboost locate box

to locate the nearest discovered Box of Speed in your current world.

💻 Commands

Useful commands include:

/flashboost info

Shows your current Speed Force level, selected speed, progression toward the next level, and Lightning Throw status.

/flashboost level

Displays your current level.

/flashboost level <level>

Changes your Speed Force level.

Setting the level to:

/flashboost level 0

completely removes the Speed Force.

Additional commands provide control over Flash Boost items, particle settings, colors, and other mod features. Commands include autocomplete suggestions so you do not have to memorize every option.
