FlashBackClipper

An OBS-style replay buffer for Flashback.

FlashBackClipper keeps a rolling buffer of your recent gameplay in the background - press one button and the last few minutes are saved as a regular Flashback replay, ready to open in the Flashback editor.

Features

• Replay buffer — continuously buffers your gameplay, just like the OBS replay buffer
• Save Clip — one keybind (default F9) or pause-menu button saves the last N seconds
• Exact clips — a clip covers precisely the configured duration, to the tick
• Nothing piles up — footage older than the buffer window is deleted continuously; disk and memory stay flat no matter how long you play
• Real Flashback replays — clips land in flashback/replays/clips/ and open in Flashback's replay browser and editor like any other replay
• Fully independent — the buffer is invisible to Flashback's own recording; you can run a normal recording at the same time

How to use

1. Open the pause menu and press the Start Replay Buffer button (next to Flashback's recording controls, on the opposite side).
2. Play.
3. Something clip-worthy happens? Press F9 (or the pause-menu Save Clip button).
4. Open the clip through Flashback's replay browser, in the clips folder.

Stopping the buffer (or leaving the world) discards the buffered footage — it's a buffer, not a recording. For footage you always want to keep, use Flashback's normal recording; both can run side by side.

Settings

All options live in a FlashBack Clipper category inside Flashback's config screen (open via ModMenu or /flashback config):

• Clip Duration — how much footage a clip saves (10s – 10m)
• Buffer Chunk Length — how often the buffer takes a world snapshot (performance / clip file size trade-off)
• Auto-Start Buffer — start buffering automatically when joining a world
• Buffer Retention — how much footage the buffer keeps (0 = automatic)
• Show Notifications — toast notifications for buffer events and saved clips

Requirements

• Minecraft 1.21.11 (Fabric)
• Flashback 0.39.x
• Fabric API
• Client-side only — works on servers, in singleplayer, and alongside any server type

Built on top of Flashback by Moulberry — all recording and playback heavy lifting is Flashback's; this addon adds the buffer, the clipping, and the controls around it.
