Flutter - Butterflies & Fireflies
No reviews yet
Fireflies glow over grass and water at night, and butterflies flutter between flowers by day, land on them and open and close their wings. Each biome has its own colours and kinds. Client-side, just visual; no mobs added.

About
Description
Flutter
Fireflies at night, butterflies by day.
Flutter fills your world with small life. When the sun goes down, fireflies rise out of the grass and drift over flowers, water and the forest edge, each one glowing softly in the dark. By day, butterflies flutter from flower to flower, land on them and slowly open and close their wings. Walk up close and they dart away, then drift back once you have passed.
Flutter is a lightweight client-side mod. It adds no mobs, blocks or items, so nothing needs to be installed on the server. It works in singleplayer and on any server, and every part of it can be switched off on its own.
Fireflies
- Out from dusk to dawn - fireflies come out as the sun sets and fade away again in the morning.
- Where they belong - they gather over grass, flowers and water, and along the edges of forests. Not in deserts, not in caves.
- Colours by biome - warm yellow in most places, green in swamps and mangroves, and blue in the dark forest.
- Soft glow - each firefly carries a soft halo of light around a small, glowing body, and blinks on and off in its own rhythm.
- Swamp blinking - in swamps and mangroves the fireflies slowly fall into step and blink together in waves.
- Shy of the rain - they hide when it rains and come back out when it clears.
Butterflies
- Five kinds, by biome - monarchs on the plains, blue morphos in the jungle, cabbage whites in meadows and flower forests, brimstones in the forest and pink butterflies in the cherry grove.
- Resting on flowers - butterflies land on real flowers in the world and sit with their wings opening and closing.
- Fluttering flight - they flap and glide in bobbing, wandering paths, and drift with the wind.
- Sheltering from rain - when it starts to rain they fly off and hide until it is over.
Shy creatures
Come too close and the fireflies and butterflies dart away from you, and drift back once you have gone by. You can turn this off if you would rather walk right through them.

FAQ
Does it work on servers? Yes. Flutter is client-side only. Install it on your own game and join any server. The server doesn't need it, and other players don't need it either. Only you see your fireflies and butterflies.
Does it add mobs? No. The fireflies and butterflies aren't entities. They are drawn by your game alone, so they never show up in mob counts, can't be hit, and don't touch your world save.
Will it slow my game down? Flutter is made to stay light. If it ever does, turn the density sliders down.
Can I use it in my modpack? Yes, go ahead. A link back is appreciated.

Report it on the issue tracker with your Minecraft version, loader, and what you saw. A screenshot helps a lot.
