About
Description

Boot prints pressed into snow, sand, mud, gravel and dirt as you walk - left, right, turned the way you were heading - fading out behind you.
It is not just you
Everything nearby leaves tracks, sized and spaced to its own body. A chicken leaves small pads close together, a horse leaves big ones far apart, and a mob from another mod gets tracks the first time it walks past you. Animals get paws rather than boots.

Nine surfaces
Snow, sand, red sand, mud, gravel, dirt, podzol, mycelium and dirt paths, each pressing its own colour - snow prints come out blue-grey the way a real boot print does, red sand presses red. Prints in a cave are dim and brighten when you put a torch down. Each step also kicks up a small puff tinted to the ground.
Knobs
Who leaves prints, how long they last, how many at once, opacity, whether sneaking is quiet, and the step puffs. There is a Footfall page in Sodium's video settings; otherwise it is config/footfall.json, and that file works on every build.
/footfall ring stamps a test circle around you if you would rather look at them than walk about.
Client-side only, safe on any server. Works under Sodium and Iris. NeoForge 1.21.1 and 26.2, Fabric 1.20.1 / 1.21.1 / 26.2, Forge 1.20.1. MIT. Free to use in modpacks.
