Welcome to FRIGUS' Encinas, the mod that brings one of Spain's most iconic trees into the world of Minecraft.

If you've ever traveled through the Spanish countryside, there's a good chance you've seen an Encina before. The word Encina is simply the Spanish name for the Holm Oak, a tree so deeply connected to the landscapes of the Iberian Peninsula that entire ecosystems, traditions, and ways of life have grown around it. From rolling hills and grazing livestock to ancient paths and forgotten villages, the Encina has quietly shaped the Spanish landscape for centuries.

And now...

It's coming to Minecraft.

At the heart of the mod is, of course, the Encina itself. Unlike many modded trees that completely take over world generation, Encinas aims to feel natural and immersive. You may occasionally discover individual Holm Oaks growing among vanilla forests, adding a subtle touch of Iberian character to familiar landscapes.

But if you truly want to experience these trees in their natural habitat, you'll need to find an Encinar.

The Encinar is a brand-new biome inspired by the famous oak woodlands that cover large parts of Spain. Here, Holm Oaks grow in abundance, creating peaceful forests of scattered trees, open clearings, and gentle landscapes that feel very different from Minecraft's existing forests while still blending naturally into the world.

The goal of Encinas is simple:

To bring a small piece of the Iberian countryside into Minecraft.

No magical dimensions.

No ancient civilizations.

No universe-ending threats.

Just nature.

Beautiful, simple, and timeless.

Of course, no Holm Oak would be complete without its acorns.

Encinas introduces Acorns that can be collected from the trees and used as a food source. For players willing to embrace a piece of forgotten rural tradition, these acorns can also be roasted before eating.

It may sound unusual today, but roasted acorns have been consumed throughout history, particularly in rural areas where people learned to make use of everything nature provided. They remain a fascinating reminder of traditional countryside life and the resourcefulness of past generations.

Besides...

If Minecraft players willingly eat Suspicious Stew, roasted acorns really aren't that strange.

The mod also adds a complete Holm Oak wood set, giving builders a brand-new collection of building materials inspired by one of Spain's most recognizable trees. Whether you're creating rustic cottages, medieval villages, countryside farms, hunting lodges, or simply experimenting with new palettes, Encina wood offers fresh possibilities while remaining faithful to Minecraft's vanilla aesthetic.

Every block has been designed to feel like it truly belongs in the game, complementing existing woods rather than competing with them.

Whether you're an explorer searching for new biomes, a builder looking for unique materials, or simply someone who enjoys nature-inspired content, Encinas offers a relaxing and immersive addition to your Minecraft world.

And this is only the beginning.

Encinas is still actively under development, and future updates are planned to expand the mod with new mechanics, blocks, items, plants, creatures, and additional features inspired by the ecosystems, wildlife, landscapes, and traditions of Spain.

The forests are growing.

The acorns are falling.

And the story of Encinas is only just beginning.

So grab your axe, pack some supplies, and take a walk beneath the shade of the Holm Oaks.

Cuz Minecraft could always use a little more Iberia. 🌳

Y ahora…

llega a Minecraft.
