Description

The header logo for the Frontiers mod.

Frontiers is a mod for those who want a little more out of the game's adventure side.

It (attempts to) approach the game's "progression" from a new angle - that being the road up to the Ender Dragon. Heavily inspired by progression roads found in games such as Terraria, Frontiers aims to stretch the time spent between starting a world and the endgame, all while focusing on several aspects of what makes the game fun...at least from my perspective. From new tools and structures to crops and building blocks, there's something for everone! I think!

Is it a Vanilla+ mod? I have no idea! Probably not!

Frontiers is currently in Alpha!

While the game is currently completable in its current state, Frontiers is still heavily unfinished! At the moment, it may be very hard to understand the progression of the game without looking at the changelogs for all the current features. I work on Frontiers in my spare time, so for the moment updates won't be extremely frequent.

Much of what you see in Frontiers is currently in a very unpolished and unbalanced state; feedback is definitely appreciated!

Some planned things for the future include:

  • New structures
  • EMI/JEI support for custom recipes
  • New bosses both before and after the Wither
  • Several game mechanic overhauls
  • More uses for several existing items
  • And more!

New ores to mine upon the Wither's defeat!

  • Cobalt, Verdinite, and Vivulite will generate in the world on creation, but can't be obtained until the Wither is defeated.
  • These ores are stronger than Netherite, but will take quite some effort to get your hands on!
  • To start, you can find Cobalt below Deepslate in Jungles once the Wither is defeated.

New things to build & decorate with!

  • New flowers can be found all across the world; Snow Dahlias, Crimcones, Fungal Daffodils, and even the aptly-named Experiwinkle!
  • Work with a new block set, and mine up Hielostone with your Iron Pickaxe in the nearest cold biome!
  • Want something familiar? Defeat an Elder Guardian to make your Prismarine more pale, or make blue & purple Nether Bricks with a little Warped Wart!

Refreshing spins on familiar things!

  • Remove curses with Cursed Tablets at the Curse Altar, gamble on monster spawns with the Monster Bakery, or ward off undead mobs with the Spirit Candle!
  • With Arrowheads from Fletcher Villagers, you can finally use the Fletching Table to craft a nice array of specialty arrows!
  • If you're brave enough (and can defeat a Wither), obtain 55 Vivulite Ingots and make an indestructible Vivulite Anvil!

And...so much more?

  • Complete the Strange Core found in Bastions, allowing you to transform Overworld blocks into Nether variants...including Obsidian. Wink wink.
  • Mine Glowing Obsidian with your Vivulite Pickaxe, make a unique portal (5 block plus in the ground, plus 8 blocks making an outline one layer up), and fill it with lava to access "The Crags".
  • Gain access to Brimtan, a new material needed to make Eyes of Ender and the ultimate armor set...at the cost of your sanity...
