Description

Fudu Flora

Ornamental trees, flowering shrubs, garden flowers, spreading bamboo and matching building materials for Minecraft.

Fudu Flora brings plants inspired by real species into gardens, courtyards, parks and landscaped streets. Each tree has its own branching structure and canopy shape, while flowers use vanilla-style pixel textures and lightweight cross models.

The current collection includes 11 tree varieties, 6 ornamental shrubs, 8 flower varieties and Ruozhu bamboo, together with gardening interactions, flower pots, wooden building blocks and bamboo equipment.

Trees with Distinct Shapes

Every tree variety includes its own sapling and foliage. Tree generation uses species-specific branching and canopy structures.

Tree Character
Plane / French Plane A broad crown with spreading scaffold branches
Ginkgo Golden foliage, layered branches and a tapering crown
Scholar Tree Outward-reaching branches and an umbrella-like canopy
Golden Rain Tree A smaller, loosely rounded crown
Camphor A dense, broad evergreen crown
Zelkova Upward-reaching branches forming a vase-shaped outline
White Poplar A tall, upright trunk with an elongated crown
Flamboyant A wide, flattened crown with scattered flowering leaves
Golden Osmanthus Evergreen foliage with golden flowering leaves
Silver Osmanthus Evergreen foliage with pale flowering leaves
Banyan A broad canopy with hanging aerial roots

Golden and Silver Osmanthus have separate saplings and flowering leaves, while sharing their logs, planks and non-flowering foliage.

Saplings grow naturally through random ticks and can also be encouraged with bone meal. Ordinary trees have single-block trunk bases.

Plant four matching Ginkgo or Banyan saplings in a 2×2 square to grow a giant tree with a thick trunk and a larger canopy. Giant Ginkgo trees retain their layered, tapering shape, while giant Banyans develop a broad, connected crown.

Tree growth respects existing blocks. Obstacles stop affected branch and foliage paths, while unobstructed directions can continue growing.

Banyan aerial roots appear beneath varied branch locations, with different lengths and distributions. They remain attached to wood or an anchored root chain and can extend downward naturally or with bone meal.

Flamboyant trees grow a mixture of flowering and non-flowering leaves. Tree flowers remain decorative states rather than following a random-tick flowering season.

Ornamental Shrubs

Six shrubs provide smaller plants for hedges, borders and courtyard decoration:

  • Loropetalum

  • Duranta

  • Pittosporum

  • Fagraea

  • Privet

  • Weeping Fig

Shrubs use compact, azalea-like forms with enclosed outer foliage.

Ground-planted shrubs support two bone-meal stages:

  1. A non-flowering shrub becomes flowering.

  2. Applying bone meal to a flowering shrub grows it into a small tree.

Shrubs can also naturally bloom and lose their flowers through random ticks. They do not naturally grow into trees.

Potted shrubs can bloom, wilt and be harvested, while remaining small decorative plants.

Garden Flowers

All flowers have separate flowering and non-flowering items.

Flower Height and appearance
Carnation A two-block-tall plant with pink flowers
Moth Orchid A two-block-tall plant with purple-toned flowers
Peace Lily A compact, one-block-tall plant with pale flowers
Cyclamen A compact, one-block-tall plant with pink-purple flowers
Clivia A two-block-tall plant with broad basal leaves, one upright flower stalk and a concentrated orange-red flower cluster
Purple Marigold Four purple flower heads, visually 1.5 blocks tall
White Marigold Four white flower heads, visually 1.5 blocks tall
Yellow Marigold Four yellow flower heads, visually 1.5 blocks tall

Marigolds occupy two block positions, so leave space above them when planting.

Flowers use native 16×16 textures, centred, symmetric silhouettes and double-sided cross planes. Tall flowers have separate textures for their upper and lower halves. Irregular highlights and shadows give petals, stems and leaves more variation without increasing texture resolution.

Gardening, Harvesting and Flower Pots

Use vanilla shears to collect flowers from:

  • All eight flowering garden plants.

  • All six flowering shrubs.

  • Flowering Flamboyant, Golden Osmanthus and Silver Osmanthus leaves.

Shearing leaves the plant or foliage in its non-flowering state. Only flowering forms can be harvested.

Bone meal restores flowers to non-flowering garden plants, including potted plants. Applying bone meal to flowering ground-planted flowers can produce additional flowers.

Flower pots support tree saplings, shrubs, flowering and non-flowering flowers, and Ruozhu shoots. Plants can be inserted and retrieved through normal flower-pot interactions.

Collected flowers craft into matching dyes:

Dye Flowers
Pink Carnation, Cyclamen
Purple Moth Orchid, Duranta, Purple Marigold
Magenta Loropetalum
White Peace Lily, Pittosporum, Fagraea, Privet, Weeping Fig, Silver Osmanthus, White Marigold
Red Flamboyant
Yellow Golden Osmanthus, Yellow Marigold
Orange Clivia

Clivia and Marigolds produce two dyes per flower; the other flower recipes produce one.

Plant materials also support composting, and a dedicated creative inventory tab keeps the collection together. English and Simplified Chinese names are included.

Ruozhu Bamboo

Ruozhu is a separate bamboo plant with its own shoots, growth stages and harvesting materials.

Planting and Growth

  • Plant up to four stalks within one block.

  • Each shoot occupies a random empty quadrant.

  • Newly planted shoots first appear as small bamboo shoots, then mature into short leafy stalks before extending upward.

  • Every stalk has an independent, saved maximum height between 6 and 12 blocks.

  • Lower stalk sections also grow leaves.

  • Natural growth uses random ticks.

  • Bone meal advances eligible quadrants in sequence, skipping absent, blocked or fully grown stalks.

Reproduction and Natural Generation

Mature clumps first produce shoots in their own empty quadrants. Once full, they can spread to neighbouring suitable ground through four saved, randomly selected directions.

Approximately 35% of horizontal ground positions permit new natural Ruozhu clumps. These positions are fixed by the world and coordinates, so repeated growth attempts cannot eventually fill every reserved clearing.

This is an average eligibility rate, rather than a guarantee that every small patch will reach exactly 35% coverage. Manual planting remains unrestricted.

Ruozhu patches also appear in newly generated vanilla Bamboo Jungle chunks, alongside existing vanilla bamboo.

Harvesting and Uses

  • Cutting bamboo removes unsupported sections above the cut.

  • Internode drops reflect the actual number of stalks in each removed layer.

  • Use a hoe or shovel to recover immature Ruozhu shoots.

  • Mining immature shoots bare-handed causes periodic prick damage and yields no drops from those shoots.

  • Both Ruozhu Shoots and Bamboo Internodes can feed and attract pandas and support breeding.

  • Bamboo Internodes also work as fuel.

  • Ruozhu shoots support flower pots.

Bamboo Crafting and Armour

Ruozhu provides two crafting materials: Bamboo Internodes and Bamboo Poles.

  • 9 internodes in a 3×3 grid → 1 vanilla Bamboo Planks.

  • 3 internodes in a vertical column → 1 Bamboo Pole.

  • Bamboo Poles use the standard armour crafting patterns to make a helmet, chestplate, leggings and boots.

Bamboo Armour features an Edo-inspired segmented 3D design, including an open-face helmet, layered shoulder guards, a cuirass, split skirt armour and greaves.

Its base protection and durability match iron armour, and Bamboo Poles are used for repairs.

Each equipped piece provides:

  • 12.5% additional reduction to non-projectile damage.

  • 12.5% increased fire damage taken.

A complete set reaches 50% non-projectile damage reduction and 50% increased fire damage. Fire damage receives the fire penalty rather than also receiving the non-projectile reduction.

Wood and Building Materials

Woody plants include corresponding logs and foliage, with distinctive bark colours and mottled growth-ring textures.

Ten plank families are available:

Plane, Ginkgo, Scholar Tree, Golden Rain Tree, Camphor, Zelkova, White Poplar, Flamboyant, Osmanthus and Banyan.

Each family includes:

  • Planks

  • Stairs

  • Slabs

  • Fences

  • Fence gates

Logs from these wood families craft into matching planks, and the building pieces use familiar crafting patterns. The ten families provide 40 matching stairs, slabs, fences and fence gates.

Requirements and Compatibility

  • Minecraft: 1.20.1

  • Mod loader: Forge

  • Tested Forge version: 47.3.0

  • Java: 17

  • Installation: Required on both the client and server

An optional vegetation material-mapping patch is available for Complementary Unbound + Euphoria Patches.

Back up existing worlds before updating. Existing trees and bamboo are preserved: new tree shapes affect future growth, and existing dense bamboo patches are not automatically thinned. Natural Ruozhu generation requires newly generated Bamboo Jungle chunks.

The 0.1.3 release was checked with 29 behaviour tests, an isolated compatibility world using 23 related mods, 2,808 client model checks, existing-save reload tests and additional offline checks covering 1,800 tree shapes.
