Description
Note: The trailer video does not showcase all behaviors.
Mod Info:
Follow the map on Day 2.
Explosions are useful for killing these creatures.
Netherite Keys are used to seal the cage after it is activated.
Ancient Cities have new features
This horror mod is a vanilla friendly mod, somewhat inspired by Weeping Angels and Arcanmira.
Mechanics:
There are two variants of Gargoyles.
Both kinds are completely invisible until they are close to the player.
The first variant, found in Ancient Cities, has 230 health and can only be killed by certain damage types, like explosions or suffocating. They will only attack you if you have the Darkness Effect.
The second variant, which spawns naturally after you activate the Cage that releases them, has 70 health and it is faster. These gargoyles will despawn after attacking, and they have a 30% chance of killing the player with the jumpscare. There is a chance that they do not show themselves when approaching, and will jumpscare the player and despawn. This type of jumpscare will never kill the player. They have a chance of not freezing in place when they are visible and they will continue to chase the player. Upon one spawning, a few things can happen. They can play whispering sounds, they can give the player darkness, they will speak to the player, or they will jumpscare the player. (only when it's raining, this feature is a nod to the Vapor from the Beware the Rain mod.) These effects can be combined, too.
Naturally spawned Gargoyles will drop a piece of Cursed Deepslate when they're killed. This looks like normal Deepslate but is more difficult to mine and may occasionally play a creepy noise.
The Gargoyle Cage can be found in Ancient Cities. Right-clicking it will make the Gargoyles begin to spawn naturally until it is resealed with a Netherite Key, in which it will be destroyed and drop loot. Only one cage may be active at once.
