Description

One block. Ten phases. A whole world to pull out of it.

You start on a single block floating in the void. Break it and another one takes its place, forever. What comes out changes as you go: dirt and logs at first, then stone and ore, the ocean, the Nether, and finally the End. The block, the counter and the progression are shared by everyone on the server, so the mod is built for co-op as much as for solo play.

What you get

  • Ten progression phases, from Meadow (0 blocks) to Apotheosis (12,000 blocks), each with its own blocks, mobs and loot chests.
  • A boss bar that always shows the current phase and how many blocks are left before the next one.
  • Rushes: short random events that break the routine. Motherlode yields nothing but ore, Chest Rain multiplies chests, Swarm makes mobs pour in.
  • 19 advancements in a dedicated tab.
  • A safety net: drops falling into the void come back to the block, and a player who falls is brought back to the island.

Getting started

  • Singleplayer: create a new world and pick the world type OneBlock (or OneBlock (no structures)).
  • Server: set level-type=oneblock\:oneblock in server.properties before the first start.

The mod is required on both the server and the clients.

Commands

/oneblock info, /oneblock phases, /oneblock stats and /oneblock tp are open to everyone. Operators also get /oneblock rush, /oneblock phase set, /oneblock force, /oneblock count set, /oneblock pos here, /oneblock structure and /oneblock reset confirm.

Made to be customised

Phases are plain JSON files in a datapack (data/<namespace>/oneblock_phases/): blocks, weights, mobs, chest loot and the number of blocks required. Unknown block or mob IDs are skipped, so a phase can list blocks from mods that are not installed.

Out of the box, the phases already use blocks, mobs and items from Create, Twilight Forest, Farmer's Delight, Supplementaries, Aquaculture and Mowzie's Mobs when those mods are present. None of them is required.

Everything else (island position, regeneration delay, rush frequency, mob pressure, void rescue…) is in the config file.

Good to know

  • English and French are included.
  • The mod changes how plains villages and pillager outposts generate so that they sit correctly in an empty world. Use it in a dedicated OneBlock world or modpack rather than alongside a normal survival world.
