Ghost of You transforms death in Minecraft from a forgettable footnote into a haunting, personal experience. When you die, the world remembers - your final moments replay forever as a translucent ghost retracing every step, every jump, every desperate swing of your sword, frozen in time at the place where it all ended.

⚡ What makes this mod different?

Most death mods give you a grave. Ghost of You gives you a story.

The mod continuously records your last 30 seconds of movement - your position, rotation, sprint state, jumps, attacks, even whether you were sneaking or on fire. When you die, that recording becomes a ghost that performs an infinite loop of your final moments at the exact spot of your death. Combined with a Soul Crystal altar that marks the death location with a floating, spinning Nether Star, every fallen player leaves behind a permanent, animated monument.

Then comes the gameplay loop. Ghosts are translucent, invulnerable, and beautiful - but they're also a resource. Banish them with the Ghost Banisher to claim their Ghost Essence, a powerful crafting ingredient with multiple uses. Build memorials to honor the fallen and earn passive buffs for everyone nearby.

🔮 Ghost Essence - Multi-Use Resource

Drop from banished ghosts. Four distinct uses:

1. Right-click to consume → +4 hearts instant heal, Resistance II for 10s, Regeneration II for 5s. A pocket totem with a 30-second cooldown.
2. Brewing ingredient → Combine with Awkward Potion to brew the Potion of Ethereal Form:
   • 🪶 Slow Falling
   • ⚡ Speed II
   • 🛡️ −30% damage taken
   • Perfect for End City raids, parkour, boss fights, Nether exploration

• Crafting component → Required for the Ghost Banisher
• Memorial binding → Permanently bind essence to a Memorial Block for area buffs

⚔️ Ghost Banisher

A ritualistic weapon that releases ghosts from their endless loop. Holding right-click while aiming at a ghost initiates a 2-second banishment ritual featuring:

• Spiral of upward soul flames
• Collapsing soul-particle sphere
• Vertical end-rod beam to the sky
• Visual lightning strike (no damage)
• Layered Wither/Beacon/Lightning sound effect

The ghost performs a death animation - tilting forward, fading out, sinking into the ground - then drops its Ghost Essence containing the owner's full death story (name, lifetime, killer, cause of death).

🪦 Memorial Block

Craftable tombstone you bind to any Ghost Essence. Once bound:

• Displays the fallen player's name floating above
• Emits a continuous soul-particle aura
• Grants Resistance + Speed to all players within 5 blocks
• Buffs stack up to 5 times when multiple memorials are placed nearby
• Right-click empty-handed to read the full epitaph: lifetime, cause of death, time since banishment

Ghost Essence spawns in vanilla generated chests for players who can't farm it:
