Description
Graveborn: Soulfire Greatsword
Graveborn adds one colossal, two-handed sword carved from an ancient dragon-like leg bone. Its jagged ivory blade carries six skull carvings with glowing purple eyes and spectral flame details.
Combat and appearance
- 20 base melee attack damage, 0.8 attack speed, and 2,031 durability. Armor, enchantments, attack recovery, and ordinary Minecraft modifiers affect actual damage.
- A real one-second swinging animation: a heavy wind-up, broad diagonal cut, and follow-through in first person, with matching heavy arm movement in third person. Visual animation does not delay or replace normal melee hit processing.
- Version 1.2.0 lengthens the original blade by 14%, adds three jagged crown splinters, and deepens its fracture details.
- Purple skull eyes and flame geometry stay bright in darkness through model lighting, without a shader. They do not cast light onto nearby blocks.
- Small purple motes occasionally drift near the held blade, with a modest increase while swinging.
- Keep your offhand empty for melee and the skill.
Soulfire Requiem
Hold Use Item (right-click by default) for at least one second, then release a purple cone that reaches six blocks within a 90-degree forward arc. Eligible hostile mobs must have a clear line of sight when the curse is applied.
Each cursed mob receives five raw damage per second for three seconds: one pulse at one, two, and three seconds, for 15 raw damage total before armor and normal mitigation. There is no upfront burst. Reapplying the curse refreshes a single timer and never stacks another damage stream.
The skill has an eight-second cooldown and costs four durability per completed cast, including misses. Early releases cost nothing. Players, animals, neutral creatures, and allied monsters are protected. Endermen, ordinary and zombified piglins, spiders, and cave spiders are excluded; piglin brutes remain valid hostile targets. Normal melee follows Minecraft's usual rules.
The curse rechecks hostile/ally protection during its pulses. It ends if the caster or target dies, is removed, changes dimensions, or the level unloads. Purple charge, cone, and curse particles are cosmetic; the skill places no fire and damages no terrain.
Obtain the sword
Each normally defeated Ender Dragon has one independent 50% chance to drop one pristine Graveborn. Respawned Dragons receive a fresh roll. Looting does not affect the chance. Failed rolls cannot be retried on the same Dragon, and duplicate death-loot events cannot create another reward.
In the End, a winning reward appears above the exit fountain's central pillar with a glowing outline. It respects doMobLoot and canceled loot events. Direct removal commands such as /kill do not run the normal Dragon reward path.
There is no crafting recipe. In Creative, find Graveborn in the Combat tab, or use /give @s graveborn:graveborn with commands enabled. Repair it with bone blocks in an anvil. Standard sword enchantments, Unbreaking, Mending, and Curse of Vanishing are supported.
Install or update
- Minecraft Java Edition 1.21.1.
- NeoForge 21.1.259 or a later version within the 21.1 series.
- Java 21.
- Remove the older Graveborn JAR from the profile's mods folder, then install graveborn-1.2.0.jar. Keep one version installed.
- Multiplayer clients and the server need the same mod version. No additional gameplay libraries are required.
Existing Graveborn items retain their item ID and gain the updated appearance and behavior.
Validation
All 48 dedicated-server GameTests passed, including real melee damage, exact damage-over-time timing, refresh and cleanup, protections, Dragon loot, and the actual swing clock. The actual Minecraft client rendered the model and both animation views, emitted blade motes, and verified a real right-click charge/release with three five-damage pulses through normal networking. All 36 archive checks passed.
A complete Survival/End playthrough and live multiplayer using two separate clients remain untested. Version 1.2.0 is a Beta.
Code, names, models, and textures are original and MIT licensed. This project contains no extracted franchise assets and has no official affiliation with Mojang or any dark fantasy franchise.
