GREENER PASTURES - A DATA SCIENCE MOD

Your Cobblemon breeding operation, run like a lab. Then put it on display and charge admission.

One item - the Notebook - is a real in-game console (an actual web app rendered inside Minecraft). Link pastures to it and every egg becomes data: filtered by IVs, nature, and shininess through a visual node graph, banked losslessly in the BioBank, or rendered into Data - the currency that powers everything else.

No chests. No hoppers. No lag-farm entity soup.

⚙️ THE LOOP

Link a pasture and slot a Kernel (Copper → Greener: up to 8 breeding pairs in parallel - each tier faster and droppier).

Pair your parents on named breeding lines. Lines ARE the breeding switch: an unwired pasture idles, and a warning chip tells you why instead of leaving you guessing.

Route eggs through your node graph - IV / EV / nature / shiny filters → BioBank (256/species, sortable by any stat) or → Data. New lines come pre-wired to the BioBank so nothing is ever lost while you learn, and every mod recipe is in your recipe book from the moment you join.

Harvest - drops trickle in passively from each mon's own drop table, plus type-drops (Fire types are your blaze rod farm; Ghost/Dark trickle echo shards). A Cobblemon-only world is fully farmable.

Spend - Data feeds your Daemon (19 buffs that go BEYOND vanilla enchant caps - Fortune past max, Vein Miner, Auto-Smelt, Magnet - rented per second) and Soul Tethers (amplifiers on your Kernel).

Going big? Flip a pasture to ghost mode - the mons de-render entirely and keep breeding as pure data. Sixteen-pasture towers, zero entity soup, your TPS none the wiser.

Walk away: drops and eggs accrue while chunks are loaded and catch up the instant you return (12h catch-up cap by default, server-tunable, online-time only - verified to the exact sweep, and honestly billed).

🕯️ 17 HIDDEN RITUALS

Assemble the right Pokémon in one pasture and something happens. Every ritual is a hidden recipe teased only by a riddle - "Say it out loud." · "Three heads. Three skulls. The restless dead." - with gacha pulls, visible pity, and a dedicated spoils pool.

  • The Black Market fences Illicit Data Disks - a corruption orb that Vaal-rolls your Kernel: blessed (augments past every cap, up to a corruption-only Tier III), wild, nothing, or bricked. Forever.

🧬 BREEDING META, IN THE UI

Nature Lock (all 25, stat hints) · Ball Lock · targeted EV spreads (full 510 allocator) · IV floors · hidden-ability splice · egg moves · hatch acceleration - installed onto Kernels through the Augmenter for GPU, upgradeable to level II (1.5× power, triple the slots - choices matter), re-configured free.

Name your Kernels. Multi-kernel target cards. Masuda/Crystal-aware shiny indicators. Parent inspection down to OT.

And because Cobbreeding ships the shiny-parent Crystal bonus silently OFF, GP guarantees at least ×2 on eggs bred through its lines - server-tuned higher values always win.

💾 YOUR MONS, AS DATA

Specimen Disks archive a party Pokémon losslessly onto reusable media - IVs, nature, moves, OT, shiny, everything - released with a right-click. Box clutter solved: keepers live on a shelf.

And at one million Data rendered, the Dashboard lets you summon M̸i̷s̶s̴i̵n̷g̸N̵o̶. - a glitch trophy that rewrites its own species every few seconds and refuses all battles. One per million. Forever.

🏛️ BUILD A ZOO. THEN MAKE IT EARN.

Archived mons don't have to sit on a shelf. Two blocks put them back in the world:

The Specimen Statue poses one Pokémon frozen on a plinth - rotate it, scale it 0.25× to 3×, nudge it into place. It's a render, not an entity, so a hall of a hundred statues costs your server nothing.

The Exhibit Pen is the living version: slot up to 6 written disks and those mons walk your build for real. Patrol a route you record stop by stop (routed over the mod's own navmesh, so a tour can take stairs and cross gaps Minecraft's own pathfinder flatly refuses), roam inside a radius you set by standing where you want the edge, or stay put as a greeter.

Nothing you display can be lost. Exhibit mons are projections: read off the disk, never written to the world, uncatchable, and unable to drop a single item. Break the block and your disks pop out intact. There is no version of this where your shiny goes missing.

And you can hide the block itself - disguise a pen or statue as any block you place beside it, and it vanishes into your build.

💬 EXHIBITS THAT TALK

Right-click a mon and it holds a conversation. A dialogue bar slides in along the bottom, the world still running above it, and the mon stops what it was doing and turns to face you. There's no portrait box, because the actual creature is standing in front of you - at whatever size you set, lit by your own build.

You write the conversations in the Notebook: add a line, give it answers, point each answer at what comes next. Branch it, loop it, end it anywhere.

A line can hand over a prize - a template that's copied per player, so an exhibit never runs dry and never needs restocking. Cap it at once, N times, or unlimited for operators. Prizes handed out by ordinary players are keepsakes: real items with real names that can't be crafted, smelted or burned, so anyone can run a gift shop without it becoming a diamond printer.

An answer can ask for an item, greying out until the player is carrying one. That's a fetch quest, a toll gate, or a gym door - and the price is written on the button, so nobody stares at a dead option wondering why.

The Key Core turns that into a lock. Four colour bands read exactly like a resistor: 10,000 possible keys, cut in the Notebook from a blank. Nobody can forge yours - a key is signed by whoever cut it, so another player can dial the same four colours, name their gym the same thing, and their key still won't open your door. Bands are public by nature; the part that matters is the part you can't see. The code is spelled out in digits and colour names in the tooltip, so it reads fine if red and green look the same to you.

⚔️ EXHIBITS THAT FIGHT BACK

Challenge a mon in a pen and battle it. Not a scripted set piece - a real Cobblemon battle against the exact Pokémon on the disk, with its real moves, IVs, nature and held item. You can't make an exhibit stronger than a mon you actually caught, because there's nothing to configure. It is the mon you archived.

The way in is a conversation. A dialogue answer can be set to ⚔ challenge, which means every trick above applies to a fight for free: put it behind a key, behind a fee, or three lines deep in a branch. There's no right-click-to-fight, so nobody ever starts a battle by accident.

Beat it and it goes down. The mon faints, the pen stands empty for six seconds so everyone watching can see it happened, then it returns from the disk at full health. It can't be worn down, farmed for its held item, or left damaged for the next challenger.

Winning pays: real EXP and EVs for your team, plus experience orbs scaled to the beaten mon's level. Your own Pokémon take real damage and can faint. A gym is a fight, not a formality.

🧠 WRITE THE AI YOURSELF

Every exhibit fights by a rule list you author in-game, checked top to bottom, first match wins. If the foe is below 30%, use Sing. Otherwise attack with whatever hits hardest. Arrows reorder what takes priority.

Ten things a rule can ask about: either side's health, the turn number, the foe's type, whether a move still has PP, whether anyone is statused, or a straight percentage chance. Four things it can do: name one of the mon's moves, or let it pick the strongest, the weakest, or a random one at the moment it swings.

You can't write a broken rule. Conditions, moves and types are pickers rather than text boxes, so a typo is impossible. A rule naming a move the mon no longer knows is flagged the instant you swap the disk. A rule that can never match says so. And there's deliberately no "do nothing" option, so an exhibit cornered with nothing effective still swings rather than freezing.

Or skip all of it. Three built-in minds: passive goes easy on people, random fights exactly like a wild Pokémon, and strong is Cobblemon's own trainer AI - which the base game only ever gives to NPCs, so a strong exhibit is a harder fight than anything in the wild with nothing authored at all.

💰 RUN A BUSINESS WITH IT

Put a price on a challenge. A gated challenge answer charges an item to fight, and unlike a prize it charges every time - a fight isn't something you claim once.

The fee goes to you. Whatever a challenger pays lands in your Notebook Storage, even while you're offline, and the receipt appears in your Inbox under Income: who paid, what, and at which exhibit. Only you ever see your own takings.

That makes an exhibit worth running. An EV training bench. A levelling service. A gym that charges admission. Set the mon, write the AI, set the price, and let people come to you.

🎰 THE GAME CORNER

Six arcade cabinets inside the Notebook, all server-authoritative - hidden tiles, decks, and trees never leave the server, so no cabinet can be client-cheated.

  TOP DECK  |  Twenty cards fan face-up wearing random emotion portraits, slide back, and hide ONE survivor among strangers. Up to five flips, then a 2x / 6x / 20x let-it-ride ladder at a fixed, auditable 25% per rung. Lose, and Mercy offers a free one-shot memory check that refunds the wager and nothing more.
  SLOTS  |  Three portrait reels. No config, no rigging, pinned by a unit test.
  VIBE CHECK  |  Free to play. Twelve cards, three sour; every happy face doubles the pot (512 max) while a live odds panel shows exactly how sour the next draw could be. First frown torches everything.
  QUICK CLAW  |  Free. An ambient crowd of real walk-cycle sprites ambles by, one WANTED runner sprints across - tag her and the payout scales with reaction time, judged server-side on the click packet's arrival. Can't be spoofed.

The art: every portrait and walk sheet comes from the community-run PMD Sprite Collab - 500+ portraits and 23 walk sheets, every single one verified fan-made per emotion and animation. Zero game rips ship (the famous faces whose collab entries are CHUNSOFT rips got cut - Pikachu included). 45 artists credited in the mod and on the About card.

The economy: winnings are Game Corner Coins - the arcade's own closed currency. Coins never convert to Data and Data never converts to Coins; the arcade only pays in prizes. The Prize Counter redeems them mobile-style: six shelves per player, stock rotating every 15 real-time minutes, every purchase refreshing all shelves on the spot. Nearly 70 wares (effectively every Cobblemon held item), with the crown jewel being the Mystery Egg - 1200 coins for a random species egg with at least two perfect IVs and its hidden ability. Always.

And below it all: the High Roller Room. A fixed gold shelf of long-term goals - a Master Ball at 30,000, a Prime Egg at 8,000 (four perfect IVs + hidden ability), and the Legend Specimen Disk at 100,000 - a random implemented legendary or mythical, level 50, minted onto real tradeable specimen media. The season trophy.

🔦 THE HUNTER'S TOOLKIT (BUNDLED)

  • Shiny eggs gold-glow in any container - no more hover-checking a full box
  • Lifetime tally keeps your real "1 in N" shiny rate
  • EggOracle, the built-in odds planner, answers the only question that matters: at my egg rate, how many days to a shiny? (eggs/hr → shinies/day → average-to-shiny, Masuda-aware)

🍬 SNACK SCIENCE

Merge whole Poké Snacks into one Ultra Compressed Snack - up to 9 bait effects, honest tooltips (including the REAL spawn speed - the vanilla "Reduce Bite Time" tooltip lies; ours doesn't. And yes, we fixed Cobblemon's hidden 2× speed cap: every bite-time berry now counts, up to 20× throughput).

Charge a Snack Repel can with the berries of the type you DON'T want and bake it in: that type's snack spawns divide by up to ÷60. Sculpt your spawn pool.

🛡️ OBSESSIVELY HARDENED - AND IT SHOWS ITS WORK

  • Profiles itself: /gp perf flame renders a browser-openable flame graph. Measured idle cost: ~0.1% of wall time.
  • 586 unit tests on the pure, Minecraft-free cores - the battle AI, the dialogue tree, the economy rules and the claim ledgers are all provable without booting a game.
  • Adversarially reviewed system-by-system before release - economy exploits, dupe surfaces, and edge cases hunted and closed - then reviewed twice more before 1.0.0: two rounds of four independent agents each, over the new zoo systems and then over the fixes themselves. Every confirmed finding is fixed or recorded with a reason.
  • One example of what that catches: a beaten exhibit used to drop its held item and its species loot table, which would have made any pen an infinite item farm. Found, closed, and re-verified at bytecode level against Cobblemon itself.
  • Operator-locked pastures: on multiplayer, only you can touch your Kernel, pairings, name, or routing graph.
  • Another: review found that an unreadable egg could once slip past IV filters - now an egg that can't be decrypted is KEPT, enforced in four independent layers. Because a shiny you can't read is still a shiny.
  • Tuned on purpose: no single Daemon buff breaks the game - but Mining Damage III + Haste III + your own pick, together, cross the deepslate instamine line. Intentionally.
  • Bagged and tagged: every voided egg is listed with the exact filter that rejected it.

📜 THE FINE PRINT (A.K.A. OUR PROMISES)

  • No pay-to-win surface. Every rate a server could sell back - drop rates, augment power, Data values - is baked into the mod, deliberately no config. (Buff availability and ritual tuning are admin JSON so server owners can balance, but there's nothing to zero-out-and-charge-for.)
  • Nothing is destroyed silently. Shiny or unreadable eggs are ALWAYS kept - even if the egg data can't be decrypted. Every render is logged in the void log. Full pastures pause, never discard.
  • All data stays local. The analytics are yours, on your machine. Nothing phones home.

  The Notebook console IS a real browser rendered in-game, and MCEF is the engine that draws it. There is no fallback UI - without MCEF you get a download prompt where the console should be, and the console is the mod. On first launch it downloads about 100MB of Chromium, which is expected.
  Do not put MCEF on a dedicated server. It does not need it and should not have it.

Server: everything above except MCEF. Client: everything.
Both sides need matching Cobblemon, Cobbreeding and Greener Pastures versions.

Nothing is bundled - install each as its own mod.

One config we HIGHLY encourage: in Cobbreeding's config/cobbreeding/main.json, set "eggEncryptionEnabled": false. This is a data science mod - the whole point is seeing your eggs' IVs, natures, and abilities and making decisions with them, and encryption hides exactly that until hatch. Everything works fine with encryption ON (we test that way too - eggs bank, sort, and route by species regardless). You're just playing the mod with the lights off.

Nothing is bundled - install each as its own mod. Works in singleplayer and on dedicated servers (MCEF is only ever needed on clients).

Server operators: config/greenerpastures/pastures.json → maxCatchupHours (default 12) caps how much away-from-the-chunk time pastures bank for breed/harvest catch-up. 0 disables catch-up; 168 max. It paces progression only - offline time never counts regardless.
