About
Description

Greyfall adds a new biome, the Grey. It's rare (about as rare as a jungle) and everything in it has lost its colour. Trees, grass, flowers, stone, even the water. When you walk in, the screen slowly goes grey and the music stops. Only a low hum is left.
The Weight
It lives in the dark parts of the Grey. It's a heap of ash with no face, it's slow, and it never leaves the biome. If it hits you, you'll feel heavy for a while. It doesn't like light. Hold a torch and it keeps its distance. Light up the place where it lives and it falls apart into grey ash.
What's in it
- 416 grey blocks. All the natural blocks of the Overworld, from logs to coral, plus wood, stone, bricks, glass and metal blocks to build with. Grey copper never oxidises.
- Grey ores. Tools and armour made from grey iron, gold and diamond hit a bit harder and last longer than the normal ones. You can upgrade grey diamond gear to grey netherite at the smithing table.
- Grey ash, dropped by the Weight. Grey saplings only grow if you use it on them. Bone meal won't do anything.
- Swimming in grey water makes you dizzy, grey lava burns a little more, and any food you eat in the Grey fills you half as much.
- Normal blocks you place in the Grey turn grey after a few seconds. Ores and valuables are safe.
- Grey coal burns twice as long.
- 480 recipes. They show up in your recipe book as soon as you pick up a grey ingredient.
Requirements
NeoForge 1.21.1, GeckoLib and TerraBlender. Install it on both the client and the server.
Compatibility
I tested it with Sodium, Iris and Complementary shaders, and on a dedicated server.
Config and commands
In config/greyfall-common.toml you can turn the biome off or make it more or less common. Server operators also get /greyfall grey <radius> and /greyfall color <radius> to turn an area grey or bring its colour back.
Modpacks
Feel free to put it in your modpack, you don't need to ask.
What's next
Greyfall is a small piece of something bigger I've been working on. I can't say much about it yet. More is coming.
