Halite and where to find it

Halite ores can be found in desert biomes between

          level y = 30 and level y = 90 mainly buried and they

have a stone and a sandstone variant.

Husks drop halite too with a higher probability with the Looting enchantment.

Salt and salted foods

2 units of Salt can be crafted with one unit of Halite in

a crafting grid and can be used to season various     foods.

Salted foods give more saturation and hunger points.

Don't want to travel to a desert? You can boil the water in a bucket to obtain a Salt bucket.

Every salt bucket can be uncrafted in 4 units of salt.

Another way of obtaining Salt is by trading it with butcher villagers.

Potions of Preservation

Potions of Preservation are made by brewing an awkward potion with one unit of Halite in a brewing stand and they have a short and a long version.

The Preservation effect temporarily deactivates active harmful effects (there's a challenging advancement about this too), but watch out: the effect wears off way faster in water!

The timer of the deactivated effects will stop while the Preservation effect is active and will go down again when the Preservation effects wears off.

Also if a slime gets the effect, it will die instantly because of corrosion (but no slimeballs, since it corrodes them too).

Halite lamps

The Halite lamp is a new light source. It is made out of 8 units of Halite and one unit of glowstone dust.

It emits a light level of 7 and it can be picked up only by a tool with silktouch, otherwise it will drop the 8 units of Halite back but not the glowstone dust.
