Description
HardGrind
No cheating your own run. HardGrind takes away the shortcuts in Survival: OP and game mode switching are gone, the difficulty and key gamerules are locked, and a run log keeps the story of your world. Lock a world and it stays locked, even if you remove the mod.
In every Survival world
- No OP for players.
/gamemode,/give,/tp,/gameruleand F3+F4 don't work, even with "Allow Cheats" or Open to LAN. The console and datapacks keep working. - Survival is enforced. Creative or Spectator is switched back on the next tick (dead Hardcore players stay spectators).
- Difficulty is locked, so no switching to Peaceful mid-fight.
- Gamerules are locked: keepInventory, mobGriefing, doDaylightCycle, naturalRegeneration and more are put back if they change.
- Run log and milestones: from Stone Age to a full beacon, stamped with the day and your play time.
/hardgrind logshows deaths, mob kills and any notes.
Lock it for good
/hardgrind lock confirm makes the rules stick:
- The world won't open without HardGrind.
- Restored backups and old copies are caught, and the world saves the moment someone dies, so force-quitting can't undo a death.
- Known cheat clients and X-ray mods keep a locked world from loading.
- Anything that slips through goes into the run log as a permanent note.
Ironman
/hardgrind ironman confirm: if HardGrind ever catches cheating in this world, the world dies for good.
Hardcore second chance
Died in a hardcore world but want to keep going? /hardgrind revive confirm turns hardcore off for that world, and the run log says so forever. Not in ironman worlds.
Build worlds
Creative worlds, and any world you turn into one with /hardgrind build confirm, get commands and game modes back for planning and building.
Freecam, fair mode
Freecam works in locked worlds, with collision on and no interacting from the camera.
Commands
Any player can use them: /hardgrind (status), /hardgrind log, and lock, unlock, ironman, build, revive (each asks you to add confirm).
Good to know
- Fabric, needs Fabric API. Minecraft 1.21.9 to 1.21.11, and 26.1 and newer. Pick the jar for your version.
- A server with locked worlds needs HardGrind on every player's game too.
- Files outside the game folder: with
sharedLedgeron, the save-scum ledger lives in~/.hardgrind/ledger.json, so it's shared between launchers. HardGrind also checks that file once and copies it into the game folder if there's no ledger there yet.
