Hats (Classic)

Hats (Classic) brings new life to the classic Hats mod on modern versions of Minecraft.

With the release of Hats 3.0.0, the mod has received an absolute technical overhaul, rebuilding its core systems while introducing new ways to collect, customize, display, and interact with hats.

Version Support

Hats 3.0.0 currently supports Minecraft 1.20.1.

All versions outside of 1.20.1 are currently unsupported. Other versions will not receive updates until their respective 3.0.0 ports are completed, as the changes introduced in 3.0.0 require their own technical overhaul.

New Hat System

Hats now use an entirely new placement system designed to accurately position and scale hats across different entity models.

Every vanilla mob is supported, including baby variants, with additional handling for entities such as sheep depending on whether they have wool.

The new system also provides improved helmet placement, ensuring hats properly fit helmets without the sizing and positioning issues found in previous versions.

Customization

Hats can be customized directly through the in-game GUI.

Customization includes:

• Color and alpha controls
• Enchant glint
• Hat accessories

The Hats GUI also supports both the classic 1.7.10-style interface and the 1.16.5-style interface, allowing you to choose the experience you prefer.

Rarity & Progression

Hats feature multiple rarity tiers, including the new Legendary rarity.

Rarity tiers have their own color identifiers, making them easy to distinguish throughout the GUI.

Hats can also be unlocked through Survival gameplay, including advancements, exploration, and mob interaction, while Creative Mode provides unrestricted access.

Configuration

Hats 3.0.0 introduces a completely new in-game configuration system with a wide range of settings and helpful toggles.

The configuration screen can be accessed directly through the GUI using the Personalize button, giving you control over how Hats behaves without manually editing configuration files.

Hat Stands & Hat Launcher

Hats can now be displayed using Hat Stands, complete with their own crafting recipe and configurable modern and legacy GUIs.

The Hat Launcher also provides another way to interact with your hats.

Hats can additionally be safely stashed when hats are disabled for an entity that already has one equipped.

Compatibility

Hats includes compatibility for:

• 3D Skin Layers
• Fresh Animations
• Fresh Animations Extensions
• Mo' Bends

The new placement system is designed to provide consistent results across vanilla and modded environments.

Classic Hats

Hats (Classic) includes all legacy hats from the original mod, bringing the classic collection into the modernized Hats system.

Classic GUI icons and other familiar features have also been brought forward as part of the 3.0.0 overhaul.

Persistence & Multiplayer

Hat data is fully synchronized and designed to remain persistent through:

• Player death
• Dimension travel
• Relogging
• World reloads

The GUI reflects the actual equipped state, helping prevent desyncs, ghost items, and incorrect hat displays in multiplayer.

Modpack Use

Hats (Classic) is free to use in modpacks.

You are welcome to include it in public or private modpacks without permission.
