About

Description

![Health Drain Showcase Photo]

Fabric mod that lowers your maximum hearts on a timer — for challenge runs, speedrun variants, and manhunt-style multiplayer.

Compatible with Minecraft 26.2 / Fabric Loader 0.19.3 (same stack as recent SpeedRunIGT).

Features

  • Reduces max health over time (not just current HP)
  • Configurable interval, starting hearts, minimum hearts, and hearts lost per interval
  • Half-heart support (e.g. floor at 0.5)
  • On-screen countdown: Next heart: M:SS
  • Optional chat message + loss sound (Off / Hurt / Anvil / Totem)
  • Progress saved per player and kept on death
  • Paused singleplayer does not drain
  • Target mode for manhunt — only one named player is affected
  • In-game config via Mod Menu (Cloth Config is bundled)

Defaults

Setting Default

Interval 90 seconds
Hearts lost each interval 1
Minimum hearts 0.5

Dependencies

Required

Optional

Singleplayer

  1. Install Fabric Loader + Fabric API + this mod (Mod Menu recommended).
  2. Open Mods → Health Drain (or edit config/healthdrain.json).
  3. Tune interval / hearts / sound as you like.
  4. Leave Target mode off for a normal solo challenge.

Multiplayer / manhunt

Drain is decided by the server/host config.

  1. Enable Target mode.
  2. Set Target player name to the runner’s username.
  3. Only that player loses max hearts; everyone else is unaffected.
  • LAN / Open to LAN: configure on the host via Mod Menu.
  • Dedicated server: edit the server’s config/healthdrain.json (client Mod Menu won’t change the server).

If target mode is on but the name is empty, nobody is drained.

Config

config/healthdrain.json — or Mod Menu tabs: General, Multiplayer, Display, Audio.
