Description

Extensions is basically an all-rounder mod: everything that Mojang has left unfinished or has overlooked is the focus of this mod. As there isn’t a general topic to talk about, all the content of the mod is divided into several “Drops”.

Amethyst Linked Chainmail Armor Showcase    Arrow Deflection Showcase

Firstly: crafting recipes for all chainmail armor pieces! They are all crafted using leather and iron chains. Chainmail armor is intended to be a side-grade for iron armor, so there are now two paths to follow. Additionally, chainmail armor (if wearing all pieces of armor), gives the player Arrow Deflection, which when getting shot by an arrow, it has a 50% chance of deflecting it. Normally, it only reduces the arrow's damage by 50%.

Chainmail armor has the capability of getting fused with amethyst using a smithing template blacksmiths sell. Using it the same as a netherite armor upgrade, but with amethyst and chainmail armor, you will get amethyst linked chainmail armor. If you wear all pieces of that armor, you will resonate with every impact received, for small that it is. You will then unleash all that vibration in a single blow. You will have to think: wait for a larger hit, or just use the minimum?

Amethyst linked armor is able to get upgraded even further, but its upgrades will be in another "Drops".

Skeleton Horse Showcase    Abandoned Stable Showcase

This "Drop" adds a new structure called the Abandoned Stable. It is found in the pale garden, which isn't really worth visiting in the regular game.

In this structure you will find a natural skeleton horse, with a tragic backstory. It is not a trap, as the ones already in the game, so you are free to take it without complications. But if you want to give it a treat, give it the new Rotten Golden Apple.

The Rotten Golden Apple is crafted with, obviously, a golden apple and rotten flesh. Is it safe to eat? Well, that is up to you. Depending on the time of the day, you will get two different effects: Undead Skin or Insatiable Fury. Undead skin gives you the condition of burning in the sun and Insatiable Fury gives you the ability to regenerate health on hit, with the cost of your food value. Both of these effects have potion items.

If you feed a skeleton horse with the Rotten Golden Apple, you will give it speed and it will regenerate its health to the maximum.

New Pitcher Plant Showcase      Opened Torchflower Showcase

The sniffer is a purely cosmetic entity. Its plants are just for decoration and one of their names doesn't even make sense, and that doesn't compensate the difficulty of hatching a sniffer and getting a seed.

For the torchflower, if you right-click one, you will open it and it will start emitting light. That's now a real torchflower.

The pitcher plant, on the other hand, has a new mechanic. You will now be able to give it rotten flesh and the plant will start to digest it. After some time (sometimes short, sometimes long), it will have transformed it into another item. Could be anything from bonemeal to the new item: the Acid Compound!

The Acid Compound is used as an ingredient. In the crafting table, you can place it with 8 rotten flesh to obtain 8 leather, so now, trash is not trash anymore. Additionally, you can craft acid arrows the same way: Acid Compound with 8 arrows to get 8 acid arrows. This projectile pierces all armor, so it doesn't matter wether it is netherite or leather. You can also make Plant Cheese with it! With a bucket of milk and Acid Compound, you can get 2 Plant Cheese. It has the same effects as milk, but you consume it faster and it gives you food and saturation.

Hurricane Bundle Showcase     Snow Plants Showcase

The snow biomes are a bit underwhelming, it has some unique features, but it could be better.

There are two new plants: the Frost Lantern and the Hurricane Violet. You can collect both of them without needing shears, but the last one has some special properties.

The Frost Lantern is the first three-block plant in the game, and it is decorative. You could use it as natural street lights for example. You can craft cyan cye with it too.

The Hurricane Violet is different: if you right-click it with shears, you will obtain a Hurricane Violet Petal. Be careful, you will only get the plant if braking it without having removed any petal. Warning: be extra cautious when removing all of its petals, who knows the consequences...

With these petals, you can get purple dye or a Hurricane Bundle. The Hurricane Bundle uses these petals as ammo, and you have to hold right-click to charge it, it consumes up to 16 petals. When releasing, you trigger a wind explosion with a variable strength depending on how many items were consumed. This item has two new enchantments:

  • Gust: Reduces the time of petal consumption.
  • Tornado: Makes entitities float around you, and attracts them before launching the attack.

(These are incompatible with each other)

There is also an upgrade for the Amethyst Linked Chainmail Armor, the Frozen Amethyst Upgrade, which is obtained through wandering traders anywhere or fishermen from snow villages, just there. While having all the upgraded armor equipped, you have the same effects as the Amethyst Linked Chainmail Armor, but if you get hurt by getting frozen, you get the strength effect.

More Additions:

  • A new curse: Curse of Freezing Touch. Each hit freezes you and your opponent.
  • A new food: with a bowl, a Frost Lantern, a Hurricane Violet Petal and raw rabbit you can craft the Winterland Stew. When eating eat, it gives you Chilling Rush, which gets you frozen immediately for some time.

Camouflage Enchantment Showcase       Echolocation Enchantment Showcase

  1. Spyglasses now have three new enchantments: Clarity, Camouflage and Echolocation. Clarity can be found in loot tables and the librarian, but Camouflage and Echolocation are only found in trades from the cartographer. Clarity removes ambient fog and gives night vision. Camouflage makes you undetectable for aggressive mobs and Echolocation gives glowing to enemies in a large range, with pulses, not permanently.
  2. Horse armor is now craftable. You can find a Horse Armor Upgrade in the new structure Abandoned Stable (from the Undead Nutrition "Drop"), you can use it as the other upgrades, with the base being leather horse armor and then you can use any material you like.

Any bug report or suggestion would be welcome.

Q&A:

  • Will you backport to x version?

No. I will just update it from 1.21.8 onwards, I don't have time to change almost all the code due to the recent internal changes in Minecraft of 1.21. Additionally, some features and incompatible with past versions.

  • Will there be more content?

Yes, although with irregular scheduling, but there are a lot of plans for this mod.

  • Can I use it in my modpack/server/video?

Yes! Feel free to use it. (As long as it is credited)
