HephaFix

HephaFix adds full item-pipe automation support to the Hephaestus Forge from Forbidden & Arcanus.

The mod provides configurable automation ports around the multiblock, automatic pedestal access, Blood Test Tube recycling, and a dedicated Gavel slot for automatically starting rituals.

Features

Configurable Forge Ports

Each completed Hephaestus Forge has 12 configurable ports:

• Three ports on the north side
• Three ports on the east side
• Three ports on the south side
• Three ports on the west side

The ports use the exposed Polished Darkstone blocks around the forge. Pipes connect to the outward-facing side of each port block.

Available port modes:

• Unassigned
• Item Input
• Item Output
• Aureal
• Souls
• Blood
• Experience
• Gavel

Port assignments are saved with the forge and remain configured after restarting the world.

Port Configuration Interface

Open the Hephaestus Forge and click the gear button on the left side of the interface.

The configuration panel:

• Opens to the left to avoid interfering with EMI
• Contains 12 buttons arranged like the physical forge perimeter
• Uses color-coded buttons for each port type
• Shows the side, position, and current assignment when hovered
• Allows each port to be changed by clicking its corresponding button
• Includes an option to reset all ports

Colored hollow squares appear on the physical port blocks so configured connections are easy to identify.

Automated Ritual Input and Output

Item Input ports insert items into the forge’s main ritual slot.

Item Output ports extract completed ritual results while preventing extraction during an active ritual.

Each port exposes only the inventory behavior assigned to it.

Essence Automation

Dedicated ports are available for:

• Aureal
• Souls
• Blood
• Experience

Essence insertion uses Forbidden & Arcanus’s normal Forge Input registry and validation rules. Invalid items are rejected, and essence providers cannot be inserted when the corresponding essence storage is full.

Automatic Blood Test Tube Recycling

Blood ports support complete Test Tube automation:

1. A filled Blood Test Tube enters through a configured Blood port.
2. Forbidden & Arcanus processes it normally and increases the forge’s Blood essence.
3. The resulting empty Test Tube remains in the Blood slot.
4. The same Blood port exposes the empty Test Tube for pipe extraction.

Filled Blood Test Tubes cannot be extracted prematurely, and unrelated items cannot be removed through the Blood port.

This allows a repeating automation loop:

Filled Blood Test Tube → Hephaestus Forge → Empty Test Tube → Extraction

Automatic Gavel Slot

HephaFix adds a real synchronized Gavel slot directly below the forge’s main slot.

The slot:

• Uses the visual style of the original forge interface
• Displays a faded gavel icon when empty
• Accepts Forbidden & Arcanus ritual-starter items
• Supports regular clicking and shift-clicking
• Stores the gavel persistently
• Automatically starts valid rituals
• Applies the normal configured durability cost when a ritual starts
• Continues working after saving and reloading the world

A port configured as Gavel allows pipes to insert or extract the stored gavel. A Gavel port is not required for automatic ritual activation when a gavel is inserted manually.

Automated Pedestals

Darkstone Pedestals and Magnetized Darkstone Pedestals expose item capabilities on every side.

Pipes can:

• Insert an item onto an empty pedestal
• Extract an item from an occupied pedestal

Pedestal automation uses Forbidden & Arcanus’s normal pedestal update methods so ritual ingredient detection and pedestal effects continue functioning correctly.

Pipe Compatibility

HephaFix uses the standard NeoForge item-handler capability and is intended to work with normal item-pipe systems, including Pipez and other compatible automation mods.

All insertion and extraction operations respect simulation calls and avoid modifying inventories until an operation is accepted.

Installation

1. Install NeoForge for Minecraft 1.21.1.
2. Install Forbidden & Arcanus 2.6.1 or newer and its required dependencies.
3. Place hephafix-1.0.0.jar in the mods folder.
4. Install HephaFix on both the server and connecting clients.

Important

HephaFix does not replace or rewrite the Hephaestus Forge. It extends the existing Forbidden & Arcanus forge, ritual, essence, input-validation, pedestal, and container-remainder systems with standard NeoForge automation support.
