About
Description
Hibernation Logs adds rare hollow logs to natural trees. Any living creature that touches an empty hibernation log is safely stored inside as a Hibernation Egg, preserving its saved entity data so it can be released later.
Use them as portable creature storage, pet transport, or simple one-slot mob traps.
How To Find Them
Hibernation Logs generate naturally in Overworld tree chunks. They replace existing tree logs, so they appear as part of real trees rather than as standalone blocks.
By default, the mod tries to place about 1 hibernation log per 5 trees, with a maximum of 5 per chunk if enough trees exist.
Supported wood types include:
- Oak
- Spruce
- Birch
- Jungle
- Acacia
- Dark Oak
- Mangrove
- Cherry
- Pale Oak
How They Work
Each hibernation log has one storage slot.
When a living creature touches an empty hibernation log:
- the creature enters hibernation
- the log becomes occupied
- a Hibernation Egg is stored inside
- the creature’s saved data is preserved
This can work on animals, pets, and other living mobs. Players are not captured.
To remove the stored creature:
- right-click the occupied log with an empty hand
- take the Hibernation Egg
- use the egg on a block to release the creature
Mining Rules
Empty hibernation logs can be mined normally.
Occupied hibernation logs have special behavior:
- With Silk Touch: the log drops with its stored Hibernation Egg intact
- Without Silk Touch: the stored creature is released and the log is destroyed
Use a Silk Touch axe if you want to transport a filled hibernation log safely.
Notes
Hibernation Logs are stack-limited so filled logs cannot be stacked together. This keeps stored creature data safe and avoids mixing different mobs or pets.
