Holy Light Excalibur
Quickstart
- Craft Holy Light Excalibur using a smithing table (recipe below).
- Equip it in your main hand.
- Right-click to fire your currently selected special attack.
- Press V to swap between the Wind Slash and the Powerful Beam of Light.
- Hold Shift while attacking to unleash the Beam of Light instead of the Wind Slash (or use the swap key to toggle your stance).
Overview
Holy Light Excalibur is a legendary, symmetrical greatsword infused with radiant power. Beyond its strong melee attacks, it can unleash two distinct ranged special attacks: a fast cutting Wind Slash and a devastating, fire-igniting Beam of Light. The blade never loses durability, whether fighting or mining, and always glints with an enchanted shimmer.
What It Adds
- Holy Light Excalibur — a netherite-tier sword with powerful stats and unique special attacks.
- Light Slash projectile — a visible traveling wave of energy used by both special attacks, capable of cutting through blocks in its path.
- A dedicated Swap Special Attack keybind (default V) to toggle between the two special attacks.
Crafting And Obtaining
Holy Light Excalibur is created by upgrading a Netherite Sword with a Nether Star using a Netherite Upgrade Smithing Template, just like other netherite gear upgrades.
The sword can also be found in the Combat creative inventory tab.
Abilities And Mechanics
- Melee Combat: Excalibur hits hard in melee and never consumes durability from combat or mining — you can swing and dig with it freely without wearing it down.
- Special Attacks (Right-Click): Firing the sword launches a beam-like projectile in the direction you're facing. Which attack fires depends on your current stance:
- Wind Slash — a quick blade wave that deals 16 damage and destroys most blocks it passes through (blocks as tough as bedrock stop it). Short cooldown, ideal for frequent use.
- Powerful Beam of Light — a much stronger blast dealing 36 damage and setting the target ablaze for 8 seconds. It has a 30-second cooldown, so use it wisely.
- Switching Attacks: Press the Swap Special Attack key (default V) to toggle your combat stance between the Wind Slash and the Beam of Light. A chat message confirms which attack is currently selected. Holding Shift while attacking also triggers the Beam of Light directly.
- Visual Effects: Both attacks produce a trail of glowing particles, with the Beam of Light producing a much larger burst of light on impact.
- Terrain Interaction: Both projectiles can tear through ordinary blocks in a straight line, making them useful for clearing paths or striking enemies from a distance, though indestructible blocks like bedrock will stop them.
Progression And Strategy
Because Excalibur never loses durability, it's a safe investment once crafted — there's no need to worry about repairing it. Use the low-cooldown Wind Slash for regular skirmishes and block clearing, and save the Beam of Light for tougher enemies or moments where the ignite effect and heavy damage will make the difference. Mastering the Swap Special Attack key lets you quickly adapt your stance mid-fight without fumbling for the shift key.
