# Hostile Tactics
**Hostile Tactics** is a server-side NeoForge mod that makes vanilla hostile mobs smarter without turning Minecraft into an unfair hardcore mod.
No new mobs.
No new weapons.
No fake damage boosts.
Just better decisions.
Hostile mobs now react to perception, memory, allies, distance, cover, and the environment. They do not magically know where the player is through walls. If a mob loses line of sight, it follows the last seen or heard position instead of tracking exact hidden coordinates.
## Features
- Smarter vanilla hostile mobs
- Local group coordination
- Short-term mob memory
- Fair perception system
- Skeleton positioning and crossfire behavior
- Zombie group pressure
- Creeper ambush logic
- Spider hunting behavior
- Pillager squad coordination
- Enderman reactions based only on visible/observable signals
- Server config for tuning behavior
- Debug commands for testing mob decisions
- No client required
## Design Philosophy
The goal of Hostile Tactics is not to make mobs stronger by increasing damage or health.
The goal is to make them feel more alive.
A skeleton should look for a better angle.
A zombie group should pressure the player instead of walking in a straight line.
A creeper should wait for a better moment.
A pillager group should feel like a small squad, not a pile of random mobs.
Everything is built around one rule:
**Mobs should feel smarter, not unfair.**
## Fair AI Rules
Hostile Tactics avoids cheap difficulty.
Mobs do not:
- track players perfectly through walls
- shoot hidden targets with exact knowledge
- gain free damage boosts
- ignore vanilla combat rules
- grief the world unless allowed by config and game rules
If a mob reacts to the player, it should have a reason: sight, sound, recent combat, nearby allies, or environmental pressure.
## Server-Side
Hostile Tactics is designed to run server-side.
Players do not need to install the mod on the client.
## Commands
```text
/hostiletactics debug on
/hostiletactics debug off
/hostiletactics status <entity>
/hostiletactics memory clear <targets>
