☣️ About the Project
How You Died is a Minecraft port and reimagining of a Project Zomboid concept. Please note that this mod is currently in HEAVY alpha and serves as a proof of concept. As I am developing this myself with minor coding assistance, things might be a little experimental (or jank!) right now, but it will be continuously cleaned up. Recommended for Hardcore just to give it that extra punch (and make the mod title make sense lol). AND SMILERS HAVE BEEN RETEXTURED!
⚙️ Current Features
-
4 Custom Entities: Face the terrors of Smilers, Bleeders, Dog Bleeders, and the new Amalgamation.
-
Survival Mechanics: Custom spawn rules are fully active.
-
Creative Mode Support: All custom items, textures, and sounds are available in the creative menu.
-
Experimental Fluid: A mysterious new fluid is included (functional uses coming soon).
-
Mod Compatibility: Unverified/experimental compatibility with Create and Timeless and Classics Zero (TacZ).
🗺️ Planned Features
-
Advanced AI Sound System: Smilers track you strictly by sound, while Bleeders hunt by sight. [Semi-complete]
-
Deep Mechanical Integration: Heavy machinery and weaponry from mods like TacZ, Create (Steam 'n' Rails, Big Cannons, Aeronautics), Immersive Vehicles, and Immersive Melodies will generate massive sound events that draw hordes from a distance.
-
Dynamic Deafness System: Massive explosions inflict a "Deafness" status effect, which completely mutes game audio and triggers a tinnitus ring.
-
Smilers: Permanently deafened by explosions. This strips away their ability to hunt by sound for the rest of their lifespan, making them helpless from a distance—but touching them still triggers a hyper-aggressive blind panic.
-
Players: Vulnerable to blast-induced deafness unless properly geared.
-
-
Tiered Hearing Protection: Craft or loot new gear to protect your senses:
-
Earmuffs: Lowers player deafness duration from 15 seconds down to 7 seconds.
-
Ear Defenders: Lowers player deafness duration down to 3 seconds.
-
Military Ear Defenders: Provides 100% immunity to blast-induced deafness.
-
-
World Generation: Custom structures, a dedicated biome, and unique day/night cycle behaviours for entities.
📜 Credits & Inspiration
-
Inspired by Born Of Birch's Knox Plague retexture mod for Project Zomboid.
-
Further inspired by a longform story using that mod, co-created alongside a good friend (mainly by him, thanks K!).
