Nautilus Backport
This mod brings the Nautilus mob and its unique mechanics from modern Minecraft versions to Minecraft 1.21.8 and earlier versions, expanding ocean exploration with new creatures, combat behaviors, and mount mechanics.
Dive deeper into the oceans and encounter powerful, intelligent aquatic mounts with unique abilities and rare encounters.
New Mobs
Nautilus
A powerful and intelligent aquatic creature that can become a valuable companion.
- Spawn depth: Y 48 to 28
- Tameable and mountable
- Dash ability for fast underwater movement
- Defends itself against hostile mobs
- Observes and attacks pufferfish
Zombie Nautilus
A corrupted version of the Nautilus that roams the ocean depths.
- Spawn depth: Y 48 to 28
- Hostile towards players
- Attacks pufferfish and retaliates against threats
- Can be mounted and tamed
Occasionally, you may encounter rare ocean patrols:
- Drowned riding Zombie Nautilus
- Some may spawn wearing Copper Armor
Additional Mechanics
- Drowned may spawn riding Guardians, creating dangerous underwater encounters.
- Copper Armor can be found in Ocean Ruins, adding a new reward to ocean exploration.
- Nautilus mobs include a chest slot, letting players store items while traveling.
- Variable dash attributes, making each Nautilus feel unique.
