Description
InstantSkin
Change any player's skin instantly, server-wide — no relog required.
InstantSkin lets server operators change a player's skin on the fly using a simple in-game command. Copy another Minecraft player's skin, apply a custom skin from any image URL, or reset back to default — all visible to every player on the server, instantly.
Features
- Copy a skin from any Minecraft account — online or offline, works even if the source player isn't on your server.
- Apply a skin from a direct image URL — with an in-game confirmation popup showing a live preview before it's applied.
- Instant, server-wide visibility — no need to disconnect and reconnect. Changes are visible in the world, in the tab list, and to every connected player right away.
- Persistent — skins are saved and automatically reapplied if the player reconnects or the server restarts.
- Simple reset command — revert a player to their default skin at any time.
Commands
All commands require operator (permission level 2) by default.
/copyskin <player> player <sourceUsername>
Copies the skin of <sourceUsername> (any Minecraft account, online or offline) onto <player>.
/copyskin <player> url <imageUrl>
Opens an in-game confirmation window showing a preview of the image at <imageUrl>. Confirm to apply it as <player>'s new skin.
/copyskin <player> reset
Removes the custom skin and reverts <player> to their default appearance.
Requirements
- Minecraft Forge 1.12.2 (14.23.5.2859 or compatible)
- CustomSkinLoader installed on the client for best skin rendering compatibility (recommended for all players on the server)
Notes
- This is a server-side logic mod — it must be installed on the server. For skin previews and best rendering results, players should also have the mod (plus CustomSkinLoader) installed client-side.
- Skin data is stored locally in
config/copyskin_data.jsonon the server. - Applying a skin from a URL uses unsigned texture data (not verified by Mojang), which is standard practice for this kind of skin-changing functionality and works reliably on vanilla-compatible clients.
