More variety of weapons in minecraft, including spears and longsword, even a new bow and shield.
Use spears as a fast melee weapon or a cheaper trident, be stronger with the longswords and the compound bow, make steel in a campfire and use it to be more durable than with iron equipment, but be wary, you need different types of steel for both armor and tools and the process to make steel may be slow.
