Description

🥫森罗物语:酱料 Kaleidoscope Sauce

Turn every meal into an adventure with eight unique sauces. 🍽️

🍽️ What is this mod?

Any food. Any sauce. Just dip it. 🥄

You no longer just "eat to heal." You can:

· 🥄 Dip: Put any food into the corresponding sauce's Bowl and coat it in rich sauce · 🎨 Dye: Food actually changes color depending on the sauce · ⚡ Trigger effects: Every sauce has its own unique buff

🥄 Core Equipment: Mixing Bowl & Stir Stick

Before you can dip, you need to make the sauce.

· Mixing Bowl: A GUI-less block used to mix ingredients · Stir Stick: Hold it and right-click the bowl to start mixing. Each stir triggers a progress animation — ingredients spin and bounce, and the more you stir, the closer you get to the final product · Recipe System: The bowl supports custom JSON recipes, specifying ingredients, outputs, and even particle colors. All recipes are viewable in-game with JEI · Dirt Easter Egg: If the ingredients don't match any recipe, stirring 8 times gives you a block of dirt

🌶️ Eight Sauces, Eight Flavors of Fun

· 🌶️ Chili Sauce — Spicy. All attacks (melee, bow, potion, TNT) set enemies on fire · 🥜 Peanut Sauce — Sticky. Immunity to fall damage, speed halved · 🥜 Sesame Sauce — Sticky. Same as above · 🫘 Soybean Sauce — Satiated Shield. Works with Kaleidoscope Cookery; eating grants damage resistance · 🫘 Sweet Bean Sauce — Satiated Shield. Same as above · 🍬 Sweet & Sour Sauce — Sweet & Sour. Double XP, faster hunger drain · 🍅 Tomato Sauce — Sweet & Sour. Same as above · 🥚 Mayonnaise — Greasy. Immunity to all negative effects, but occasional nausea

🥣 How to Play

Full usage flow:

  1. Make the sauce: Craft sauces via the Mixing Bowl (or Kaleidoscope Cookery / Kaleidoscope Chinese Food cooking devices). Check JEI for recipes 🥄
  2. Place the bowl: Right-click the ground with a sauce in hand to place its corresponding Bowl (e.g., Chili Sauce Bowl) 🥣
  3. Dip: Right-click that Bowl with any food to coat it instantly 🥄
  4. Eat: Effects trigger 😋

🌱 New Crops

Three new crops, starting from the farm:

· Sesame — Wear a straw hat and break grass for a chance at seeds · Peanut — Same as above · Soybean — Same as above; breaking during growth also drops edamame

🎨 Food Actually Changes Color

Beef dipped in Chili Sauce turns red, bread dipped in Mayonnaise turns yellow, apples dipped in Sweet & Sour Sauce turn orange.

Works with any mod's food — as long as it's edible, it can be dipped, dyed, and trigger effects. No extra resource packs, no compatibility code needed. Just works.

🔧 How Does the Dyeing Work?

For those interested in the technical details, here's a quick look under the hood:

· Runtime overlay generation: During texture loading, the mod dynamically generates a same-sized "sauce overlay" for every food texture. This overlay isn't a flat color fill — it uses a Sigmoid curve to control opacity, with the top half lighter and the bottom half denser, simulating sauce flowing down the food and pooling at the bottom. · Model baking post-processing: All auto-generated item models (both vanilla and modded food) are wrapped after baking. At render time, the wrapper appends an extra layer of geometry using the overlay texture on top of the original model, with vertex colors set to the corresponding sauce color. · NBT-driven + multi-layer stacking: Which sauce was dipped and how many layers are stored in the item's NBT data. At render time, the color of the last sauce is read and applied directly via vertex colors. Since it doesn't rely on the item's own tint layer, it works with any modded food. · Zero resource packs, zero compatibility code: Everything happens at runtime. No per-food models or textures need to be written, and no other mod authors need to do any adaptation.

🧪 Hidden Tips

· 🌶️ Chili Sauce + Bow → Ranged ignition · 🌶️ Chili Sauce + Splash Potion of Harming → Fireball · 🌶️ Chili Sauce + Lingering Potion of Harming → Fire AOE · 🌶️ Chili Sauce + Sweeping Edge → Ignite a crowd in one swing · 🍬 Sweet & Sour Sauce + Mob Farm → Double XP

🔧 Compatibility

· All vanilla food · All modded food (as long as it's edible) · JEI (recipe viewing) · Jade (Mixing Bowl contents) · Kaleidoscope Cookery & Kaleidoscope Chinese Food (required dependencies)
