It’s time to explore an amazing world of fermentation and hunt brand-new monsters in Kombucha! mod. 

Kombucha or SCOBY - is a unique biological culture, which is basically a symbiosis of bacteria and yeast. Its unordinary flavour and healing effect were discovered by ancient chinese over 2000 years ago! They called it “Immortality elixir”.

According to traditional recipe, the tea and sugar mixture goes to the vessel (basically jar or a huge bottle), the vessel is being sealed with cloth, it is being placed somewhere without sunlight, and then fermentation begins! Few days later you get tasty and healthy drink. Fun fact: you can reproduce this drink as much as you want! Just make sure there is enough tea mixture in the jar, the kombucha will do the rest!

And now you can brew kombucha in Minecraft! The cave air is full of bacteria. What will happen, if you leave a jar with tea there?

If your kombucha-monster fell in battle - don't worry! Just pick up the item it dropped and put it in the jar. Every skill will return to it.

🍄 How to Brew Kombucha

✅ Prepare the Tea Mix
First, smelt fern leaves in a furnace to obtain Tea Leaves.
Then combine the Tea Leaves with Sugar - you may also add fruit for extra flavour - to create your Tea Mix (check recipes in JEI).

🕐 Two‑Stage Fermentation Process
Brewing kombucha is a two‑stage journey.
(If you've already obtained a Mushroom by defeating a monster, you start from the Stage 2)

🌑 Stage 1 – Kombucha-shroom cultivation (Cave fermentation)
This stage takes place in a cave environment.

1. Place a Jar in a cave (the process requieres cave air, check through F3) and fill it with Water

2. Add your Tea Mix to the jar

3. Seal the jar with a Wool Block and wait. (Right‑click the jar to check the progress timer)

4. When the shroom is fully grown, open the jar and retrieve the shroom. (Shift + Right‑click)

⚠️ Important:

- You can continue cultivating new mushrooms in the cave, but you cannot enter Stage 2 while holding a Kombucha-shroom inside the cave.

- If you leave the jar too long, the mixture will spoil. Leave it even longer, and a hostile Kombucha Monster will spawn!

☀️ Stage 2 – Kombucha Fermentation (Above Ground)
Now your Mushroom needs regular (not cave!) air for the final brew.

1. Place the jar outdoors on the surface and fill it with Water or Lava (depending on the shroom type)

2. Add the cultivated Mushroom and another Tea Mix

3. Seal the jar with a Wool Block and wait again

4. Once the kombucha is ready, Right‑click on the jar while holding kombucha bottle. Each jar yields 3 bottles of finished kombucha

♻️ Reusing the Jar
After bottling, you can refill the jar with Water and add a new Tea Mix - no need to cultivate a new shroom, unless you want to produce more batches.
