About
Description
This mod focuses on bringing back the classic Beta 1.3 – Beta 1.7.3 lighting style to modern Minecraft, recreating the old atmosphere as faithfully as possible.
Why?
I personally believe the old lighting system gave Minecraft a unique and mysterious charm that I always loved. It had a certain feeling that modern lighting doesn’t quite capture, and I wanted to bring that atmosphere back.
Why not use a resource pack?
For a long time, this simply wasn’t possible. It only became achievable in Minecraft 1.21.2, when Mojang introduced lightmap.fsh (a fragment shader), allowing deeper control over the game's lighting.
Can I configure it?
Yes! The mod comes with its own configuration file, allowing you to fine-tune various lighting settings and adjust the experience to your preference.
