Description

The Legacy Textiles Mod

A backport of Wily Textiles by MCThe_Paragon for Minecraft Forge 1.12.2

With new sacks, overhauled storage mechanics, mixed bolt piles, cushions to sit on, and more!

Version 0.1.0 Feature Parade ndoW57O.png

A mod centered around the acquisition of textile-like items from alternative sources, as well as a few nifty things to do with all your newly acquired textile wealth.

If you're tired of sleepless nights spent mugging Spiders for their string, or want new and very convenient methods of early to midgame portable storage, then this is the mod for you!

Features

String Analogues

  • Twine: Made from Flax or foraged Plant Fibers
  • Silk Thread: Made from Silk Wisps, themselves made from Cobwebs

Flax Crop

  • Bundle and soak Flax Stalks to create Twine.
  • Mature Flax Blossoms can be used to craft Dyes of various types.
  • Note that Fluidlogged API is required for waterlogging Raw Fiber Bales into Retted Fiber Bale. Without Fluidlogged, you must place Raw Fiber Bales above source water blocks to get Retted Fiber

Linen (NEW!)

  • An intermediary crafting ingredient called Linen made from Twine which can then be crafted into plain bolts of Fabric

Sacks (NEW!)

  • A new early game storage solution heavily inspired by Supplementaries, crafted with  the new Linen item and a Twine
  • The Sack works as a smaller capacity (10 slots) version of a Shulker Box, with the difference that items can be put in and pulled from it in the inventory. This behavior works at random, similar to modern Bundles, meaning that if you want to organize it, you will have to place them down and open them
  • Weight: 1, when containing at least one item (read: Overencumbrance)

Baskets (NEW!)

  • A handy and cheap portable 4x2 inventory for storing items ... or capturing dropped ones.
  • A 6x2 version is available by just adding a bucket to the recipe (this is not the most balanced and might change later)
  • The open face of a Basket will capture loose items similar to how a Hopper does.
  • Baskets are compatible with item automation mechanisms such as Hoppers, but won't transfer items on their own.
  • Notably, Baskets retain their contents just like Sacks, allowing you to interact with their contents in your inventory the same way.
  • Weight: 2, when containing at least one item (read: Overencumbrance)

Overencumbrance (NEW!)

  • A new mechanic that firmly puts sacks and baskets below shulker boxes in terms of practicality
  • By default, you have a (configurable) Weight Threshold of 3 units before Overencumbrance penalties apply.
  • For each unit above the Weight Threshold, a level of Slowness (configurable) will be added to the player.
  • Each level of Strenght (configurable) will add one unit to the Weight Threshold. In other words, strenght II would allow you to carry two extra sacks or one extra basket!
  • Sacks and Baskets only count towards the threshold if they have at least one item inside of them

Fabrics

  • Bolts of Fabric, 16 + 1 colors. Bolts can be placed down, combining colors in any way you want. (NEW!)
  • Useable in crafting wherever Wool is, such as in Beds or Banners or Carpets, etc.
  • Craftable from Wool at a 4:5 ratio, or from Twine [to Linen] and then dyed.
  • Shepherd Villagers of sufficient skill may sell bolts of Fabric. The required skill level can be changed via configuration, or the feature outright disabled.
  • Additionally, an unobtainable Bolt of Canvas item exists that can be added to bolt piles. In case you need it for something (ahem, hemp mods)

Large Cushions

  • Cushy squishy large Cushions, a slab-like block to break your fall, available in 16+1 colors.
  • Stack them higher to reduce fall damage further!

Small Cushions (NEW!)

  • Cozy tiny small Cushions, a small entity-block you can place on top of anything to sit on, available in 16+1 colors.
  • Align with the top of any block and has no collission, made from the new wool slabs. It can be pushed with pistons only, should you need to.

Miscellaneous

  • A way to create Chainmail Armor pieces, via Chain Mesh
  • Flaxseed Oil liquid (new), can be placed, but more importantly, it is turned into...
  • Flaxseed Oil Bottles, burn it in a Furnace or use it to make Wood Stain or Wood Bleach. Speaking of...
  • A way to stain or bleach Wooden Plank derived items into other forms via Wood Stain and Wood Bleach
  • A way to store all those feathers you've been saving up, via the Bundle of Feathers block
  • New Wool Stairs and *Wool Slabs, with which you can make Small Cushions.
  • No wandering trader trades since they don't exist on 1.12. For this, you can configure Smileycorp's amazing Wandering Traders Backport

Addenda:

Need Textures?

  • If you like the textures made by the original dev, you can get them separately via [MCThe_Paragon]'s other project, unused-textures.
  • If you need further textures, there's Foreck's as well

Notes on License

  • This project is licensed under CC-BY-4.0 for the non-code assets, and MIT for the code assets [In accordance with the original mod].
  • That doesn't mean I don't want to hear about it, however - if you make something cool using this mod or even just parts of it, please reach out because I'd love to see it!

For this, you can configure Smileycorp's amazing Wandering Traders Backport No Turtle Shell features since they don't exist on 1.12 Fluidlogged API is required for waterlogging Raw Fiber Bales into Retted Fiber Bale.
