One entity. It is not hunting you — it is keeping you.

L'Évidé is a psychological horror mod built around a single presence. No monster zoo, no jumpscare spam: long silences, rare visits, and signs that something was here — pacing modeled on the proven horror mods.

It hears you

The mod listens to your microphone — entirely on your machine, nothing is ever recorded or transmitted. Ask "do you hear me?" out loud and it answers "Yes." Ask "where are you?" — "Closer than you think." It understands English and French (bundled offline speech recognition). Scream when you see it, and it remembers. Sometimes it repeats your own words back from the dark, not quite right.

It adapts to you

Frantic camera, sprinting, shouting — it reads your panic and presses. Stay calm and it keeps its distance. Some visits it only watches from the treeline. Looking at it drives it away — never for long. You have a stamina bar: you cannot outrun it forever.

It leaves things

Signs carved with your name. Wither roses (breaking them has a price). Rose trails you should not follow. Chests that are not yours. A book you apparently wrote. Your own head on a fence post. A torch in a cave nobody placed. Fourteen families of evidence, ten kinds of traps, cave-specific events, and sequenced night scenes (eyes in the dark, footsteps that stop when you stop). It remembers what you did — and its next book quotes your own actions back at you.

One jumpscare

Exactly one exists. Strict conditions, deep into the descent. You may never see it.

Old-school dread

Built to pair with True Darkness and old-school textures (see the modpack for the full preset — alpha textures, square sun, near fog). All sounds and voice lines are original procedural audio — stream-safe, zero copyright strikes.

Config

levide-common.toml: intensity = CHILL / NORMAL / NIGHTMARE (CHILL disables the deadly grab entirely — for story-focused videos), descent length, darkness options.

Voice recognition setup (optional but recommended)

Drop the levide-vosk folder (Vosk 0.3.45 + JNA + small EN/FR models, all Apache-2.0) into your instance folder — it loads at runtime, no hard dependency. Without it the entity still hears your volume, it just cannot understand your words. The modpack version ships it pre-installed.

Requires: Forge 1.20.1, GeckoLib. A microphone and headphones are strongly recommended.

Privacy: voice capture is 100% local. Only a loudness level and a detected intent ever reach the game logic. No audio is stored, transmitted, or uploaded.
