Description
Loadout Recall
Nobody enjoys the aftermath of dying: your armor scattered on the ground, your hotbar in a completely different order, your offhand item buried somewhere in your general inventory. Loadout Recall takes care of that automatically. It keeps track of exactly where everything was sitting right up until the moment you died, and as you walk over and collect your gear, each item slides back into the exact slot it came from.
Features
- Tracks your whole loadout — main inventory, hotbar, all four armor slots, and your offhand, all remembered continuously while you're alive.
- Recalls piece by piece — no need to scoop up every dropped item in one trip. Grab a single item now and the rest later; each one returns to its original spot the moment it enters your inventory.
- Armor re-equips on its own — pick up your dropped helmet, chestplate, leggings, or boots and they go straight back onto your body, not just into a random inventory slot.
- Offhand is covered too — your shield, totem, or anything else you had off-hand returns to the offhand slot specifically.
- Purely client-side — no server installation required. It works by performing the same kind of slot actions the vanilla inventory screen already sends, so it's compatible with unmodified vanilla servers and most modded ones.
- Respects other screens — it won't rearrange anything while you have a chest, crafting table, or any other container open.
How it works
While you're alive, the mod keeps a running snapshot of your full inventory/armor/offhand layout, updated every tick. The moment your health hits zero, that last snapshot becomes your personal "recall map." From then on, any item you pick up that matches something on the map gets nudged into its remembered slot — one clean swap at a time, exactly like dragging it there yourself.
Requirements
- Minecraft 26.2
- Fabric Loader 0.19.3 or newer
- Fabric API 0.156.0+26.2 or newer
- Java 25 or newer
Installation
- Install //fabricmc.net/use/" rel="noopener nofollow" target="_blank">https://fabricmc.net/use/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Fabric Loader for Minecraft 26.2.
- Download Fabric API for 26.2 and place it in your
modsfolder. - Drop
loadoutrecall-<version>.jarinto the samemodsfolder. - Launch the game — no configuration needed.
Notes
- Restoration happens item by item, so dying again before finishing a previous recall replaces the old recall map with the new one.
- If two identical items merge into a single stack on the ground, the item type is still restored correctly, but exact per-slot counts from before death aren't guaranteed.
- With
keepInventoryenabled, this mod effectively does nothing — your gear never left its slots to begin with.
